1988 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62

This 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser 4WD four-door sport utility vehicle was the recipient of a replacement engine, a cosmetic refurbishment, and a newer audio system as part of a restoration. Power is now delivered by a 3F 4.0-liter inline-six paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. This FJ reportedly spent long-term residence in Arizona and comes with a fresh coat of Beige Metallic paint over a two-tone tan and dark brown cloth interior. Features include a locking differential, a Pioneer CD sound system, and power convenience options. This FJ62 Land Cruiser is now offered with a CARFAX report with a clear Michigan title.

Since the 1950s, the Land Cruiser sport utility vehicle has evolved as Toyota’s front-engine, four-wheel drive sport utility vehicle. In 1980, the model adopted the FJ60 chassis as a four-door wagon and that body style remained for about a decade. This Land Cruiser FJ62 from the 1988 model year reflects a rust-free example that reportedly spent long-term residence in the southwest. The exterior is finished in a respray of Beige Metallic and features accenting brightwork for the bumpers, sideview mirrors, handles, and more. The gloss and panel fitment throughout the body are described as high quality. Features include quad rectangular headlights, roof rails, mud flaps, and a tow receiver at the rear.

Chrome-finished 15” wheels are mounted to BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A raised-white letter tires. The seller notes that this Land Cruiser is equipped with an Aussie Locker rear end.

The interior offers two-tone tweed-weave tan and dark brown fabric upholstery, with color-matched door panels, full carpeting, and a dark brown dash. Condition of the interior is noted to be good with exception of some sun-related cracking on the dash. A modern Pioneer audio system is installed, and additional amenities include air conditioning, a digital clock, tinted glass, power windows, and power door locks.

Instrumentation includes a 110-mph speedometer, a 5k-rpm tachometer, and a cluster with gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads 226k miles, which is a true original reading per the seller.

The replacement 4.0-liter 3F inline-six was installed in a tidy engine bay and was factory rated at 155 horsepower and 220 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is directed to all four wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission with a dual-range transfer case and an Aussie Locker locking differential at the rear.
