Vehicle Story

This 70K-mile 1987 Chevrolet Corvette coupe is powered by a 5.7-liter V8 paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a digital instrument cluster; power seats, locks, and windows; and cruise control. It is finished in White with a matching removable targa top over a red leather interior. This garage-kept fourth-generation Corvette is available now CARFAX report and a clear title in the seller's name, service documents, black car bra, and tan car cover.

The fourth-generation Corvette debuted for the 1984 model year with angular styling, single square headlights in pop-up housings, and dual round taillights set inside a concave rear end. Chevrolet built 30,632 1987 Corvettes, including 20,007 coupes, according to the National Corvette Museum. This 1987 specimen wears white paint and a color-matched removable targa top panel with a color-matched removable roof panel. Black trim runs above the lighting integrated into the lower front fascia and the front fender vents and around the perimeter of the car's fiberglass body.

The seller acknowledges that the paint on top of the power side mirrors is slightly faded. The 16-inch wheels are set inside of Kumho tires. A glass hatch covers the rear cargo area, but the seller reports that it will not open.

The cabin is dressed in a combination of red leather seats reported to be in excellent condition, red door panels, and red carpeting. Amenities include power seats, locks, mirrors, and windows; a tilting steering wheel; and cruise control. The black dashboard is equipped with digital instrumentation that includes a speedometer, tachometer, trip computer, fuel and temperature gauges. The analog odometer shows 70,000+ miles. The seller reports that a warning light, such as the Check Engine light, will occasionally come on randomly, then go off, but that no issues were discovered during a vehicle inspection performed in June of 2021.

The center stack features switchgear that can be used to toggle between various readouts, such as oil pressure or oil temperature, push-button climate controls, and Delco-Bose stereo with tape player. The sound system is functional but connected to a power antenna that does not automatically retract, according to the seller. Red carpeting extends to the cargo area covered by the glass hatch behind the seats.

Underneath the front-hinged clamshell hood is a 350ci V8 rated by the factory to produce 240 horsepower and 345 lb-ft of torque. It is equipped with a 180-degree thermostat installed by the seller two years ago. The 5.7-liter engine is connected to its original 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive.

The Corvette is equipped with an independent front suspension and an independent 5-link rear suspension. Various parts of this Corvette's underbody, including its dual-exhaust setup, are visible in the gallery of 92 photos.

This Corvette comes with service records, most of which are from the New York-based seller's local dealership, black car bra, and tan car cover. An inspection and oil change were performed in June of 2021.

@Coughlin – The title has it as a 1987. I bought the car in 2018 and have saved some of the service paperwork. I will call the dealer and other shop I have used on Monday to see they can printout a list of everything I had done. As far as the rims , I believe they are 16 inch. I was told that it was the last year that the rear tires were the same size as the front tires so they are able to be rotated. ...

Any underbody rust issues? I have a 1986 corvette roadster with 16 inch rims and are hard to get tyres for these days. 1987 went to 17 inch rims?

@RustyB – Any underbody rust/salt roads issues please? ...

I was told the previous owners stored the corvette inside a garage during the winter as a I have. Undercarriage looks okay. Exhaust isn’t loud, but does have some wear.

@RustyB – Manufacture I.D. states it was 9th month/1986. It has 16 inch rims so it is a 1986 model correct? Do you have delivery paperwork? Books and service history? Thanks. Regards Russell. ...

@Qualules – @maxwell ...

I don’t have the exact code number, but according to the mechanic it has something to do with the air flow. They didn’t seem concerned. I have not replaced any sensors or filters since I’ve owned it. It has been to my local Chevy dealer and shop down the street from me for inspection and routine maintenance over the years and have heard nothing more.

@Maxwell – Does the A/C work correctly? ...

Every time I have used the A/C it has worked and blown out cold air. I’ve never found the need to have it serviced.
