Vehicle Story

This 1970 Pontiac Catalina convertible was the recipient of a restoration in the 1990s and is powered by a 400ci V8 with a Holley fuel injection system. Equipment includes an automatic transmission, power brakes, power steering, an electronic convertible top, power windows, and an AM/FM radio. Located in Thomasville, Georgia, this Catalina convertible is offered with a clear Georgia title in the seller's name.

Full-sized Pontiacs were designed with square styling in 1970, along with the addition of a larger grille and more pronounced nose. This example is finished in Cardinal Red (CC 75) with a white electronic convertible top and chrome brightwork. The seller reports that the age of the paint job is unknown, but notes the finish appears to be in relatively good condition overall.

Power steering and power brakes are equipped to handle an aftermarket set of chrome mag wheels wrapped in black-walled tires. A leaf-sprung solid axle is fitted in the rear and the front end is fitted with a coil-sprung independent suspension.

The interior is trimmed in cream and white vinyl upholstery over the rear bench and front buckets with woodgrain accented door panels and black carpeting. Dash panels are constructed of black vinyl and woodgrain and house a retro-syle AM/FM radio and climate controls. Other features include power windows and the aforementioned power convertible top. Photos show wear and tear consistent with use and age.

Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, a fuel level dial, an analog clock, and warning lights for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. A touch screen for the Holley Sniper fuel injection system is mounted on the dash to allow for on-the-go tuning with a customizable screen and multiple options for additional engine management readouts. Odometer mileage is just under 131,000 miles, but true mileage cannot be confirmed.

The engine bay is home to a 400ci V8 plant mated to an automatic transmission and topped off with a black Edelbrock top end kit including the intake manifold, valve covers, and air cleaner assembly. Holley Sniper self-learning throttle body fuel injection is installed in place of the original carburetor.

Prospective Buyers, Please remember that you will also receive a 1970 Pontiac Catalina 4 door Hardtop with Factory A/C. It is believed to be numbers matching as I purchased it from the original owner 13 years ago. It has a strong 400 ci engine with performance intake, camshaft, high energy ignition etc. It does need new paint and new interior as it is over 50 years old. It is a very solid restoration project with minor rust. For additional pictures of this vehicle please contact AutoHunter

@Adenzeno – What kind of MPG does it get? Is it better with FI than a carb? ...

It is slightly better, but will improve with time as the system is learning. I haven't put enough miles on it to give you any exact numbers.
