This 1971 Chevrolet El Camino is a versatile, car-based pickup that was the subject of a comprehensive restoration and is powered by a replacement 350ci V8 paired with a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission. This El Camino comes with equipment including Edelbrock valve covers, chrome-finished Holley Rev wheels, a Sony CD stereo, and a dual exhaust system. Finished in Dark Red Metallic over a reupholstered two-tone red and white vinyl interior, this third-generation El Camino is now offered with a clear Michigan title in the seller’s name.
Beginning in 1964, the El Camino rode on the same A-body platform as the Chevrolet Chevelle, and in 1968 the model moved into its second generation. By 1970, the front end was revised to incorporate a squared-up body style, and in 1971 the dual headlights were replaced with single units. This example from that year received a restoration and a respray in custom Dark Red Metallic. The grille was refinished in gloss black and badging was deleted with exception of the grille markings. The bumpers, windshield trim, driver side mirror, and door handles remain chrome-finished. The interior of the bed shows light wear, and the rear bumpers has some scratching. A dual exhaust system is installed.
Five-spoke chrome-finished Holley Rev wheels are mounted to Cooper Cobra Radial G/T raised-white-letter tires.
The interior is fitted with reupholstered two-tone red and white vinyl bench seating, with seatbelts for three occupants. Matching colors and materials are carried through to the door panels. The dashboard is tan and shows signs of aging, and black carpeting is installed on the floorboards. Amenities include air conditioning and a Sony AM/FM/CD stereo with auxiliary stereo equipment in the glove compartment.
Instrumentation includes a horizontal 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and a fuel gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 40k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The replacement 350ci V8 is upgraded with Edelbrock valve covers and a chrome-finished air cleaner. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and a column-mounted shift lever.
