This 1972 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is one of 6,508 produced for the model year and has been with its third owner for approximately 15 years and 11,000 miles of driving leaving the odometer display at 69,236. Power is sent to the rear wheels by an L48 optioned 350ci V8 paired with the factory 3-speed automatic transmission and equipment includes power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, AM/FM radio, and power windows. The car is located in Las Vegas, Nevada, and offered at auction with thorough documentation, a number of spare and factory correct parts, and a clean Nevada title in the seller's name.
The exterior finish is a respray of the factory-correct Targa Blue (cc: 27-927) paint completed in 2018 which involved hand sanding the existing finish down to the fiberglass bodywork, repairing imperfections, and recoating followed by the installation of a new white fabric soft top. Chrome bumpers are present for their final year accompanied by matching brightwork on the side skirts and trim pieces. An extra new old stock windshield is included in the sale of the car, however, the wipers are noted to have been repaired and then subsequently broken on two occasions after the replacement of the switch and vacuum lines.
Power steering and recently replaced power 4-wheel disc brakes are optioned to handle a set of standard 15-inch steel wheels wrapped in Goodyear Radial T/A tires with roughly 1,500 miles of use. Additional recent refurbishments extend to the suspension which was fitted with new dampers front and rear in 2016 along with fresh coil springs up front and neoprene bushings to replace the original rubber units.
The interior is outfitted in blue with black and stainless accent pieces and features power windows, the working original "Wonderbar" AM/FM radio and factory air conditioning which is noted to be complete but not currently blowing cold air. Refreshments to the interior include new OEM style seat cushions and backs with period-correct vinyl upholstery, new carpeting throughout, replacement OEM style door panels fitted with the original glass and aftermarket "Hush Mat" sound deadening applied inside the doors and over the floor pans. Additionally, the seller reports all interior and exterior lighting, signals, cigarette lighter and accessories to be in working condition.
Instrumentation is framed by a 3-spoke steering wheel and consists of a 160-mph speedometer and 7k-rpm tachometer along with console-mounted dials for fuel level, oil pressure, battery voltage, coolant temperature and an analog clock. The 5-digit odometer is confirmed accurate by the seller and reads 69,236 original miles driven.
Power is provided by the original 350ci L48 small-block V8 and 3-speed automatic transmission which were rated for 200hp in 1972. The engine is dressed with an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, aftermarket Edelbrock 650cfm 4-barrel carburetor, HEI distributor, 3-core aluminum radiator, chrome alternator and factory cast exhaust manifolds leading to a new stainless steel exhaust system with Magnaflow mufflers.
Exta items included with the purchase of the 1972 Corvette include all related books and manuals, the aforementioned replacement windshield, a set of uninstalled but new "shorty" style headers, other miscellaneous parts and the original intake manifold, carburetor and crankcase breathers. Additional photos of the car have been made available in the image gallery as well.
