This 1948 Ford Deluxe 4-door sedan is a California car from new and has been driven only 84,600 miles over the past 73 years. Reportedly an original California car, it spent 20 years in a garage in Oregon before being purchased by the seller. Power is provided by a 100hp 239ci flathead V8 which is paired with a column-shifted 3-speed manual. Recent work has included the installation of an all-new clutch assembly. Located in Hidden Valley Lake, California, the sedan is now offered with a clear California title in the seller's name.
1948 was the final year for this particular Ford body style and this example is finished in beige with chrome bumpers and stainless brightwork. Exterior features consist of a split-pane windshield, rounded fenders, fog lamps, flag mounts on the front bumper, and dual exhaust. The seller describes the condition of the body as excellent and reports that there is no known rust.
Whitewall tires are fitted over factory steel wheels finished in contrasting red with chrome Ford-branded hub caps. Steering is manual and braking is managed by 4-wheel drums.
Corduroy-style cloth upholstery covers the bench seats while the door panels wear two-tone fabric. Other interior features include the two-spoke factory steering wheel with horn ring, a siren, turn signals, a driver-side spotlight, a box-style heater, a push-button AM radio, a hood release, a footrest for the rear passengers, and a full-size blackwall spare mounted on a matching wheel.
Factory gauges consist of a 100-mph speedometer and readouts for fuel level, oil pressure, voltage, and coolant temperature. A large analog clock is fitted in the center of the dash and a 5-digit odometer is reported to show 84,600 miles, a total the seller asserts is true. An additional aftermarket dial is mounted under the dash.
The 239ci flathead V8 is fed by a single downdraft carburetor under the oil bath air cleaner and power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a 3-speed column-shifted manual transmission. The seller notes that the car drives and well, especially the recent installation of a fresh clutch assembly.
