This 1970 Oldsmobile 442 is a garage-stored convertible powered by its numbers matching 455 cubic inch V8 paired with an automatic transmission. The car has received an engine rebuild, a frame-off restoration and new interior components. Equipment includes air conditioning, power steering, and power brakes. The body has been painted PPG Mandarin Copper with some metal flake while the interior, convertible top, and boot for the top are black. The car resides in New Jersey and features a title in the seller's name.
The body of the 442 has been painted with PPG Mandarin Copper and some metal flake as well as black pin striping outlining the rear bumper and black stripes. The seller states that the black stripe pattern appearing on the body sides and hood is based on original GM drawings, that the stainless steel trim on the windshield was recently refurbished, and that the chrome bumpers were recently triple plated.
The 442 package first became available in mid-1964 for Oldsmobile's F-85 models. While the numbers originally referred to the engine displacement of 400 cubic inches, a 4 barrel carburetor, and 2 exhaust pipes, this 1970 example has a larger 455 cubic inch V8 which was available in 1970. Aftermarket Crager wheels are wrapped in Goodyear tires. The seller states that the Goodyear tires are period correct. Like the interior, the convertible top boot is finished in black. Not too far away are the body colored side view mirrors.
This 442 is outfitted with a black interior and two modes of air circulation; drop the top or air conditioning. The seller states that the upholstery, carpeting, and convertible top are new.
On the dashboard from left there is a fuel gauge, speedometer, and aftermarket tachometer. The odometer reads 2.9 miles and was installed after a 300 mile break in period for the engine. Another gauge cluster has been installed at the bottom of the dashboard, which includes displays for volts, oil pressure, and water temperature. Close by, the center console hosts a dual gate shifter.
From the factory, Oldsmobile's 455 cubic inch V8 offered 365 horsepower, 4.125 inch bore, 4.250 inch stroke, and a compression ratio of 10.50:1. The seller has installed an Edelbrock Torker intake manifold on this 442, and states that this original engine has been rebuilt and is numbers matching.
The seller reports that the 442 received a frame-off restoration during the period 2016 to 2017, which has been documented in photos and receipts. This 442 has also received many new metal parts, including a new floor pans, trunk panels, rear quarter panels, and firewall.

@Gto100 – Could you post before resto pictures? I am concerned about the frame rust and why so many body parts needed replacement ...
There is a small amount of "surface" on some smalls area. Parts like the tie rods, bottom of exhaust pipes and braces. The undercarriage is clean. No rust. I am being honest and straight with you. The moist in the air when the car sits in garage storage for several years will form some surface rust. It is resting on a concrete floor. In the pictures you are looking at, the under coating has different shades in the light when I took the photos. This car is in excellent condition and is 50 years old. NONE!!! of the underneath parts need to be replaced. All are solid. I am not selling a car that needs to restored again. I did it right. I chose to POR 15 rest proof and undercoat the frame by hand, not power coat. The restore photos are all hard pictures in my album. This will be given to the buyer if requested. I can understand your questions and concerns and I am providing you the answers that reflect accurate description and condition of the vehicle.
If it was a frame off restoration why wouldn’t you of powered coated or painted frame, suspension parts etc…
Who did engine rebuild ? Do you have receipts for all the work done ?

@jprunk – No modifications to the engine block, stock rebuild. ...
Sorry, I missed this part of your question. Engine was rebuilt in 2018, only 300 break in miles on the engine. Vehicle is s not a daily driver, garage stored only.
@Gto100 – When the engine was rebuilt were any modifications done or was it built to stock specs? ...

@jprunk – Hello, Thanx for the good Questions. Top-The top works up and down. Brand new quality top. A/C-Everything is there. There are three parts in front of the radiator r and "O" rings that have to be installed. I just did not get around to do this. The system has be fully charged by an mechanic. Considering the excellent condition of the Matching Numbers vehicle, this is an minor issue. The compressor is brand new, all electric items are installed and function. Underbody-There are ten pictures of the under body, front, back side photos and are in the ad. Restoration-I have complete documenting photos of the frame off rebuild process and it will be made available to the buyer upon request. Driving- The engine was totally rebuilt. With 300 breaking in miles, the engine and trans. are perfect. Driving 100 miles-This will not be a problem. The entire car was inspected and is road safe. I ...
Thank you for your response . I wanted one of these a long time hope I end up with it. Sorry I had missed the undercarriage photos earlier. Surprised of them surface rust since the car has had a recent restoration., but I only see surface rust so shouldn’t be a issue.
@dperl1211 – Does this have any body filler on the car ...
No Body filler. All New OEM metal. Fenders, hood , trunk lid and quarters. Complete frame off restoration.
Does this have any body filler on the car
@Gto100 – How does top work ? What doesn’t work on the car ? Car looks beautiful did you have any undercarriage photos? Could you share any resto photos? If I was to win would I have any issues driving it 100 miles home? ...
