This 1946 Hudson Super Six two-door is an award-winning sedan that has received over a dozen trophies for its condition and preservation, powered by a 212ci flathead inline-6 coupled with a 3-speed manual transmission. This Super Six retains its original interior, and received an exterior refinish in 2005 that included a refresh of the brightwork and other trim. Finished in black over a two-tone black and ivory interior, this fourth-generation Series 41 Super Six is now offered with awards, documentation, a repair manual, a car cover, and a clear Missouri title in the seller’s name.
Initially known as the Series H, the Super Six was first launched in 1916 as an early performance car from the Hudson Motor Car Company of Detroit. Enhancements were applied incrementally through the subsequent decades and in 1940, a fourth-generation version rolled out, sharing a longer wheelbase with the Hudson Eight. This 1946 Super Six was repainted in 2005 in black and features bright accents for the bumpers, hood ornament, side moldings, and badging. The exterior features a two-piece windshield, teardrop headlight bezels, running boards, and a sloping rear roofline.
Ivory-painted steel wheels are topped by bright center caps.
The interior is fitted with the original materials, upholstered in two-tone black vinyl and patterned ivory cloth. The front bench has fold-forward backrests, and the dash is accented in woodgrain applique as well as chrome accents. Amenities include a heater, an analog clock, universal floor mats, and a carpeted trunk with a spare tire in a recessed floor compartment.
Instrumentation is framed by a two-spoke steering wheel with the Hudson emblem and includes a horizontal 100-mph speedometer and a fuel gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 43k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
A side-opening hood opens to reveal the 212ci flathead inline-6 which was factory-rated at 102 horsepower. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission.
The sale includes awards, a repair manual, a car cover, and documentation.
