This 1946 Chrysler Town & Country convertible was the recipient of a professional frame-off restoration that involved a full repaint, a new interior, and refinished exterior brightwork with wood trim. It features a refurbished factory radio, new Coker tires, and a new radiator. Powered by a 323ci straight-8 paired with a fluid drive semi-automatic transmission, this postwar first-generation Town & Country has received numerous awards including Best of Show at the W.P. Chrysler National Meet and is now offered with a clear Idaho title in the seller’s name.
This Town & Country was resprayed in maroon as part of a comprehensive, frame-off restoration. According to the seller, the investment into the building is more than $200k spent. All exterior brightwork was re-chromed at the time, and the wood trim with ash framing and mahogany panels was refinished by a specialist in California. The tan canvas soft convertible top is in excellent condition as per the seller, and the fit and finish throughout the exterior were a key component of the restoration effort.
Factory steel wheels with full covers are wrapped in new Coker wide whitewall tires.
The interior was professionally reupholstered as part of the restoration and is fitted with maroon leather with broadcloth inserts along with matching door panels, a two-tone maroon and black metal dash, and new maroon carpeting. The factory Mopar 802 Philco radio has a unique vertical layout flanked by an analog clock and has been restored and upgraded with an FM conversion. The trunk spring openers have been converted to gas-assisted struts.
Instrumentation is framed by a 3-spoke steering wheel and includes a 110-mph speedometer along with accompanying gauges for fuel, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The 5-digit mechanical odometer has a low reading and true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The 323ci straight-8 made 135 horsepower when new but has been rebuilt and received a new radiator from Brass Works. The electrical system was fully serviced and a new wiring loom from Y&Z was installed. Power is transferred to the rear wheels through a fluid drive semi-automatic transmission and a column-mounted shift lever.
Additional photos showing the condition of the underside are available in the gallery.
The car will come with original manuals, a set of keys, and past awards won.
AUTOHUNTER ADMIN UPDATE 8/25/21 8:22 AM: Also included with the sale is a full California car cover, a matching tonneau cover for the soft top, and a full size spare tire.

@Deadpurpledog – Does the listing show if the reserve has been met? ...
The reserve number itself is never revealed and the listing will never show "reserve met." If the seller were to remove the reserve, then the listing title would show "Reserve removed." If you have additional questions, please refer to our FAQ section.

The reserve has not been met. I don’t know if they mark it when the reserve is met . I would think that they will.

@Deadpurpledog – What is “comfort master”? One picture shows what may be swirls or scratches. . . .is this accurate, or simply reflections, please? Is top powered? If so, Is it fully operational? Anything not working as intended? Any smoke when starting or running? Leaks or weeping? ...
Just wanted to add two more items that have not been hooked up on the car first one is the side spotlight it works perfectly I just never wired it the second being the fog lights they are NOS along with the wiring. I never took the time to hook up the wires.

Thanks for the questions. The comfort master is the brand of heater and defrosting unit. The unit was completely disassembled and restored. The top works as it should. It is a power top. All of the top Bowes as well as the weinshield header are powder coated and in perfect working order. As for the paint, it is very presentable . No swirling , although it does have a couple of scratches . The most noticeable is on the passenger front fender. I tried to show it in one of the photos. Overall I would give it a 8 1/2 or perhaps nine points out of 10. Bear in mind that it is a 1946 Chrysler and these autos dripped oil straight from the factory. It does not smoke or burn any oil. Motor was totally overhauled new pistons bearings oil pump etc. there are a couple of items that are not operating on the vehicle at this time one being the clock on the dash the other being the cigarette lighter and the third perhaps the heater I have never turned it on or tried it. Overall it is a wonderful vehicle, not a disappointment.
