This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS is powered by a numbers-matching small-block 327ci V8 with performance add-ons including a Holley carburetor, an aluminum intake manifold, an MSD ignition system, and ceramic-coated headers. A 4-speed automatic transmission puts the power to the rear, and a set of Boyd Coddington 17" wheels with Nitto tires provide traction. This Camaro’s interior has been upgraded with air conditioning, a B&M shifter, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. Finished in black with white stripes over a reupholstered black vinyl interior, this first-generation Camaro is now offered with a clear California title in the seller’s name.
The first Camaro debuted on General Motors’ F-body platform for model year 1967 as a two-door, four-seat hardtop or convertible. The following year, the side vent windows were removed, side markers were added to the front and rear fenders, and the grille became more pointed in design. This Camaro hardtop from that model year was repainted in black with dual white stripes on the cowl induction hood and the trunk lid. Exterior features include chrome brightwork, a black lower front air dam, hideaway headlamps, Rally Sport badging, and a trunk-mounted spoiler. The overall finishes show well per the seller, as the car has been garage-kept throughout ownership in Southern California.
17" Boyd Coddington five-spoke polished aluminum wheels are wrapped in Nitto 235/45-series tires. The suspension features an air-ride setup in the rear. The braking system has power-assisted front discs and received a replacement vacuum system and master cylinder during a recent service.
The interior is trimmed in black and features reupholstered fold-forward vinyl buckets up front and rear bench, matching door panels, a center console, and a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel. Additional amenities include air conditioning, RS-branded embroidered floor mats, a B&M ratchet shifter, and a Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo with Bluetooth and 6"x9" speakers. The trunk is lined with a vinyl mat, and the seller notes that the air conditioning is currently low on freon.
Instrumentation consists of a factory 120-mph speedometer, a fuel gauge, and a column-mounted aftermarket 8k-rpm tachometer. Additional gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and more are mounted at the bottom of the center stack. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows approximately 70,000 miles, though true mileage is unknown.
The numbers-matching small-block 327ci V8 features a Holley four-barrel carburetor, an MSD ignition system, an aluminum intake manifold, and ceramic-coated exhaust headers. The wiring harness, alternator, and other electrical system components were redone. The cabin benefits from a new air conditioning and heater control unit as well as replacement vents behind the dash. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear end.
