Sharing equipment with the four-door W140 S-Class sedan, the CL500 two-door variant was launched in 1996 with a hardtop roofline. Comfort and convenience equipment was similar across both models, including double-paned soundproof glass, retractable sideview mirrors, and soft-closing action for the doors and trunk lid. This CL500 from 1998 is painted Glacier White (143) and dressed with color-matched bumpers and sideview mirrors, contrasting black door handles, and chrome badging.
