This 1963 Chevrolet Impala is powered by the original, 409ci V8 coupled with the original 4-speed manual transmission. The car was special ordered by the first owner in Maryland with the 425 horsepower 409ci V8, manual transmission, power steering, and AM radio. The car remained with the original owner until 1990 and recently underwent a comprehensive restoration completed in 2019. The current seller has owned the car for two years, a time during which they placed 400 miles on it. Showings 80K miles on the odometer, this Impala is located in North Carolina and offered by the selling dealer on a clear title in the owner's name
The Impala was recently refinished in 2019 in its original shade of black, with brightwork, and 409 emblems on the front fenders. The exterior was restored to original condition with polished trim strips running the length of the vehicle and a silver tail panel surrounding the signature triple taillights. A dual exhaust with polished tips was added, exiting beneath the rear bumper.
Ordered with steel wheels and dog-dish style hubcaps, the car rides on 14" BFGoodrich Silvertown tires. Power steering is equipped along with factory drum brakes and stock suspension components.
The interior is outfitted in black with patterned cloth inserts on the bench seats and a white headliner. . Options include an original AM radio and a period RCA Victor 45 RPM record player mounted to the bottom of the dashboard. The 4-speed manual transmission is shifted through a polished lever mounted to the floor.
Instrumentation in front of the steering wheel includes a horizontal 120-MPH speedometer, fuel gauge, and an aftermarket Stewart Warner tachometer. A dual gauge cluster has also been installed at the bottom of the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel, with readouts for oil pressure and water temperature. The odometer currently shows approximately 80K miles.
This Impala retains its original, matching-numbers W-Series 409ci V8 rated at 425 horsepower. This engine package included a high lift camshaft, dual exhausts, solid valve lifters, and dual Carter AFB carburetors. The factory exhaust manifolds are retained, feeding into an aftermarket dual exhaust system. Directing the power to the rear wheels is the original 4-speed manual transmission. Prior servicing includes an engine rebuild in 2019 and a recent oil service.
Additional photos of the undercarriage are available in the photo carousel.
Documentation includes the original title and a letter from the original owner of the car stating accurate mileage in 1990 at the time of the sale. A video of the vehicle running is available. The selling dealer notes that there is a $125 doc fee in addition to the purchase price.

@plymouth – Thanks for answering my questions I can see great care was taken on top and interior but pics 78-82 illustrate “less than” standard restoration processes. Just sayin’…with respect ...
With all due respect, there is nothing less than standard about this vehicle or the restoration. The pics showing the restoration are merely a moment in time and may not show every detail. Thanks!
@absales – @ plymouth - Well actually I can answer it. They did what was necessary in the restoration process. I do know great care was taken to restore this beautiful piece of history. Thanks so much for your questions and I wish you success in our auction! Happy bidding!! ...

@plymouth – So they just didn’t restore the frame like they did the top of the car. Nor did they restore the bottom of the floor pans or radiator core support or the crossmembers. Wonder why they went as far as they did and didn’t handle those items. It’s a rhetorical question that I realize you can’t answer. Thank you very much for providing what you have. Much appreciated ...

@plymouth – @seller May I please see some pics of the recent 2019 restoration with the body off the frame. Unfortunately time doesn’t allow me to come down and inspect in person so I’ll need to pursue with photos and descriptions alone. That being said I really would like to see more illustrations of the restoration after carefully viewing the underside photos. I have concerns after seeing no paint and corrosion on the bottom of the radiator core support as well as aftermarket undercoating on the frame and crossmembers which doesn’t match the level of restoration on top of the car. Thank you ...
@plymouth - I just received the photos the owner was able to find showing the restoration and that the body was removed from the frame. I hope this sheds light on your questions about the process. It really is a beautiful restoration! It is unfortunate that you cannot see it in person. I feel the photos show how beautiful this Impala truly is, but believe it or not, it's even more gorgeous in person! Thanks so much for your interest and good luck! Happy bidding!!
