This 1954 Mercury Monterey Sun Valley two-door hardtop offers a green-tinted Plexiglas rooftop, wide whitewall tires on Weld Racing wheels, and a numbers-matching drivetrain. Power is developed from a 256ci Y-block V8 mated to a Merc-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission, and the interior benefits from a custom steering wheel, air conditioning, and auxiliary gauges. Finished in two-tone red and white over a matching vinyl interior, this Monterey is now offered with a clear Florida title in the seller’s name.
The Monterey was launched in 1952 as a full-size model to replace the outgoing Eight, and in 1954 it received some cosmetic updates including repositioning of the headlights. The Sun Valley variant was a two-year-only special edition, offering a green-tinted Plexiglas section of the leading roof edge. This Monterey is finished in red with a white top, accented by generous brightwork for the bumpers, grille, hood trim, side moldings, fender spears, and dual polished exhaust outlets at the rear. Anodized Sun Valley emblems are mounted to the front fenders, with matching Monterey script on the rear quarters.
Polished aluminum Weld Racing wheels are mounted to wide whitewall tires. The body rides on independent coil springs up front and leaf springs in the rear, with stopping power coming from four-wheel drum brakes.
The interior is dressed in two-tone red and white vinyl bench seats both front and rear, with matching door panels and contrasting black carpeting. Amenities include an aluminum steering wheel, a Pioneer AM/FM/cassette radio, and an under-dash-mounted air conditioning system.
Instrumentation includes a sweeping 110-mph speedometer, a center-dash analog clock, and accompanying gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. Additional aftermarket gauges are mounted beneath the dash for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. A five-digit mechanical odometer is part of the cluster, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The 256ci overhead valve Y-block V8 was factory rated at 161 horsepower when new, featuring a four-barrel carburetor and a chrome-finished air cleaner. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a Merc-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission.

@Car5244 – I see an earlier question about the mechanical and operational condition of the car but no answer. Has the car been taken up to proper standards for reliable operation or does it just look pretty. Pretty nice. ...
