This 1979 Ford F-250 Ranger Lariat is a 67,067-mile, long bed 2WD pickup with high originality and special Trailer Special packaging which includes a trailer braking system, a custom hitch, a heavy-duty transmission cooler, and replacement Pro Comp shock absorbers which the seller reports to ride better than stock with minimal noises and rattles. Power comes from a 351ci V8 that received recent work to the ignition system, fuel system, and fluids, sending power to the rear via a 3-speed automatic transmission and a Trak Lok positraction rear end. This pickup originated in northern California and was relocated to Canada in 2018 under the seller’s ownership, where it has been garage-kept and well-maintained since that time. Finished in two-tone brown and tan over a matching cloth interior, this sixth-generation F-Series is now offered with an uninstalled sway bar, additional spare parts as detailed below, and a clear Alberta registration in the seller’s name.
The F-Series pickup grew into its sixth generation beginning in 1973 with revisions including double-wall bed construction and the increased use of galvanized steel. Subsequent year-over-year changes were applied including the addition of standard dual fuel tanks and modified trim optioning later that decade. For 1979, all models used rectangular headlamps. This F-250 from that year is painted two-tone brown and tan and is reported to have a rust-free body, outlined by chrome front and rear bumpers, side moldings, and additional exterior trim. A tailgate-mounted badge denotes this pickup as a Trailer Special, offering a dealer-installed trailer braking setup and a custom-fabricated hitch. A dual exhaust with Flowmaster Super 40 mufflers is outfitted at the rear, reported having a nice tolerable rumble that can be heard in the videos provided. The seller notes that there are some cosmetic wear areas around the exterior consistent with age.
Polished aluminum 17” wheels are mounted to newer Cooper Discoverer AT3 LT305/70 tires, which seller states have less than 300 miles of wear, including the spare mounted within the bed. The suspension has been lifted 3” up front and 1” in the rear from the stock configuration using Pro Comp long-throw ES9000 shock absorbers. Additional updates include replacement of the drag link assembly, control arm bushings, tie rods, and not-yet-installed sway bar that is included with the sale. Handling is assisted by power steering with a replacement steering gearbox. The front rotors and brake pads have also been replaced, and braking is power-assisted.
The interior is fitted with Lariat amenities including a woodgrain dash bezel and a tan and brown two-tone cloth bench seat, color-matched to the door panels, dash pad, and carpeting. Options include air conditioning, reported to be working great and blow cold, factory tinted glass, a push-button radio, and a sliding rear window.
Instrumentation includes a series of square gauges around a central 85-mph speedometer including readouts for oil pressure, fuel level, voltage, and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 67,067 miles, which the seller states is a true reading.
The 351ci V8 is free of any issues or leaks per the seller and received replacement parts including an Autolite carburetor, spark plugs, wires, throttle position sensor, ignition control module, fuel pump, fuel filter, thermostat and housing, ignition control module, and block heater. The exhaust has been replaced and a heavy-duty transmission cooler was added, with recent service performed including a tune-up, an engine coolant change, and a transmission service with a new filter. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a column-shifted 3-speed automatic transmission and a 4.10 ratio Dana 60 rear axle with Trak Lok positraction.
The seller completed an extensive wash of the undercarriage and found no signs of rust or corrosion damage on the underside of the body panels inside and out. Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.
The sale includes an additional set of I-beams, replacement rear drums, brake lines, argent headlight surrounds, and a sway bar. The seller has provided videos.

@NunyaBizness – Question about importing....bringing this into the US...its considered an import yet? How challenging is the import process into US & do you have an idea of the duties etc that would be imposed on the truck? ...
I imported this truck from the US into Canada. I did it all on my own. Two processes to follow for each country but not difficult. Duty was about 400 cdn. Most shipping companies have brokers on staff that will handle importation for you as part of the transport package. Auto Finder offers tools and guidance for you to import and ship, they have several carriers they can recommend and have special services and prices set up. Best speak to them or view the information on their web site. I am sure they have staff ready to support in this regard.
