This 1990 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 has driven 33,383 miles since new and retains well-preserved finishes both inside and out, having been garage-kept since new. This ZR-1 variant of the C4 Corvette boasts a special LT5 5.7-liter V8 that was developed in conjunction with Group Lotus and is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. History for this car shows Illinois and Indiana ownership since new, and a service in 2016 addressed mechanical condition of the fuel injectors, fluids, and more. Finished in Bright Red over a red and black two-tone leather interior, this C4 Corvette is now offered with a clean CARFAX report, both tops, and a clear Michigan title in the seller’s name.
The fourth-generation Corvette launched in 1984 on the General Motors Y-body platform. Six years later, a collaboration with Group Lotus resulted in the creation of the ZR-1 variant, featuring wider quarter panels, a revised tail panel, specific side body panels, and other aesthetic changes in addition to a performance-tuned powertrain. This garage-kept example from 1990 is painted Bright Red and comes with two available tops, one with a glass panel and another that is color-matched in red. Body features include fog lamps, pop-up halogen headlamps, vented front fenders, black beltline moldings, a high-mount LED third brake lamp, and quad exhaust outlets at the rear. Condition throughout the exterior is consistent with the car’s sub-34k-mile odometer reading.
Machined aluminum 17” staggered-width wheels are described as being in good condition, wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. All ZR-1 Corvettes came with the FX3 Selective Ride suspension with electronically-adjustable Bilstein shock absorbers, controlled by a toggle switch on the console. The Bosch braking system received similar performance upgrades, comprised of four-wheel anti-lock discs.
The interior is fitted with dual power-adjustable red leather bucket seats, and matching door panels and carpeting. The center console, dash, and leather-wrapped steering wheel are contrasting black. Amenities include automatic climate control, cruise control, power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, and a Delco-Bose Gold Series stereo system with both CD and cassette.
Instrumentation includes a digital speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature, coolant temperature, and voltage. The digital odometer reads 33,383 miles, which the seller states is a true reading.
The forward-hinged hood opens to reveal the tuned-port injected 5.7-liter LT5 V8 which bears an aluminum block, four overhead camshafts, and 32 valves. This powerplant carried a factory rating of 375 horsepower and 370 lb-ft of torque when new. The CARFAX states that the fuel injectors, fluids, oil, and filter were changed in 2016, and power is fed to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 6-speed manual transmission.
Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.
The CARFAX report shows a history free of accidents or damage. The selling dealer notes that there is a $200 doc fee in addition to the purchase price.
