Vehicle Story

This 1966 Chevrolet El Camino was originally purchased new in Oakland, California, and has been with its third owner in Sacramento since 2016. Power is provided by a ZZ3 small block V8 crate motor paired with a THM200-R4 automatic transmission and equipment includes air conditioning, power brakes, power steering, and dual exhaust. Located in Sacramento, California, this third owner 1966 El Camino is available with a clean California title in the seller's name.

Finished in Ermine White (cc: CC), this El Camino was repainted under prior ownership at an unknown date by a prior owner and remains in 7/10 condition as reported by the seller who points out one notable knick on the tailgate which shows some surface rust and a few small scuffs. Exterior features include Chevelle styling with a truck bed rear, chrome trim pieces and bumpers, and chrome dual exhaust tips.

Standard slotted black steel wheels are equipped with chrome lips and Chevrolet Motor Division hubcaps wrapped in blackwall Michelin rubber. Handling is managed by power steering and power braking systems while suspension consists of a solid rear axle and a coil-sprung independent system upfront.

The truck bed is finished in body-matched Ermine White and appears to be in great condition while the interior is outfitted in cloth upholstery over bucket seating with black carpeting and stainless accented door and dash panels. Shifting is accomplished automatically by way of a center console-mounted shifter and air conditioning was added while under prior ownership and confirmed to be in great working order.

Instrumentation is said to be working properly with the exception of the turn signals and consists of a console-mounted analog clock and fuel level dial along with a 120-mph speedometer. The accuracy of the 5-digit odometer is unknown but reported to display 80,726 miles driven on the chassis.

Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a ZZ3 350ci small-block V8 crate motor producing 345hp that was swapped in with just under 20,000 miles on the engine and mated to a THM200-R4 automatic transmission. During their ownership, the current owner has added less than 1000 miles on to the drivetrain, bringing the total reported engine mileage to over 20,000. The seller reports the drivetrain to run and drive well. Additional components found under the hood include an aftermarket 4-barrel, 670cfm Holley carburetor, aluminum radiator with electric fan, Edelbrock Performer EPS intake manifold, and finned Edelbrock valve covers and air cleaner assembly.

A solid rear axle can be found underneath along with the dual exhaust system and the only issue of note is a small leak coming from the oil pan gasket. Additional photos of the underside and the rest of this 1966 El Camino have been made available for viewing in the photo carousel.
