Vehicle Story

This 1985 Chevrolet C20 Silverado is located in Wickenburg, Arizona from the original owner with excellent service history and great overall condition. Power comes from a 502ci big-block crate engine which is shifted automatically by a rebuilt TH-400 transmission and sent to the rear wheels by way of a rebuilt 14-bolt differential with 3.42:1 gearing and Positraction. Equipment from the factory includes dual gas tanks, air conditioning, power windows, power brakes and power steering and the truck is offered with a clean Arizona title in the seller's name.

Finished in white (12/WA5111) over medium grey metallic rocker panels and chrome trim lines, the single cab exterior features tinted windows, a full-sized box, trailer hitch receiver and a bed-mounted cargo box. Damage to the left front pillar is shown on the CARFAX report from 2003 which appears to have been repaired and the seller has advised the truck was never in an accident and retains all of its original body panels.

Power steering and power brakes are equipped to handle a full set of recently replaced tires mounted over aftermarket black wheels. The truck rides at its stock height and suspension consists of a leaf-sprung and rebuilt 14-bolt solid rear axle with Positraction and 3.42:1 gearing along with an independent coil-sprung front end.

The interior is outfitted in Silverado trim and comes equipped with factory air conditioning, power windows, dual gas tank switch over and a stereo system. Aftermarket seats with raised bolsters were installed along with an aftermarket steering wheel.

Factory instrumentation includes an 85-mph speedometer along with dials for fuel level, coolant temperature, battery voltage, oil pressure and an analog clock. The 5-digit odometer is reported to show approximately 215,000 miles driven on the body and chassis.

The engine bay is home to a ZZ502 crate engine from GM Performance Products which is a 502ci plant that produces just over 500hp out of the box while shifting is managed by a TH-400 automatic transmission. The transmission was rebuilt at the time of the engine swap with the inclusion of performance parts to ensure it could handle the increased torque output and roughly 40,000 miles have been driven since the overhaul.

@azdiesel80 – Hi, do you still have the original bench seat and column shift components ? ...

No original bench seat. All shift components in possession except the shift handle. This can be replaced through numerous after-market catalogs....which I have. Thanks

@Killerstwin – what is the box and switches under the dash in front of the driver for? ...

The box is a low-budget wiper delay. Some 15 or more years ago, the wiper delay and window washer stopped working on the turn signal handle. At the time I didn't have much funds to replace turn signal handle, so I bypassed it with the aftermarket delay switch. I replaced the washer pump and grommet but that wasn't the problem. It was in the turn signal handle itself. All the other functions on the turn signal handle has always been operational, ie: cruise control, wiper motor, turn signals, and high/low beam function. I just purchased the new turn signal switch and it will arrive today. You will have to have it installed though. Sorry, but I don't have the time before I leave the country. Regarding the two switches under the dash...those are for accessory cooling fan operation. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to call. By the way, this truck has never been restored. It has been in well maintained care all these years.

@pnielsenrn – Hello and thanks for your questions, The front end ball joints are not original. The uppers were recently replaced...perhaps a year ago with full alignment done. A full alignment was also done when I very recently replaced all 4 tires. --Second question: There is absolutely no rust. This truck has always been garaged and resided in California, and more recently, in Arizona the last 3 years. It has never been driven on "salted roads". --Third question: The frame is straight and never damaged. Always drives straight and true like it did when new over 30 years ago. This truck has never been involved in a collision with another vehicle, or large object. The Carfax report of a repaired left front window pillar was merely a painting repair. There was no structural damage to the pillar or windshield. I replaced the original windshield about 3 years ago, only due to 30 something years of road micro pitting. I hope I have satisfactorily addressed your concerns, and I appreciate your interest! This truck is in excellent condition for it's age. I've always pampered it and loved it. It's been a good friend and never let me down. I never dreamed of ever selling it. However, I'm leaving the country to retire in Costa Rica, and my 'ol girl can't go! Thanks ...

Thanks very much
