This 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner is a 2-door Retractable Hardtop example available at auction in Orlando, Florida with no notable issues reported and just over 50,500 miles on the odometer. Power comes from a 352ci Ford FE V8 paired with an automatic transmission and standard and optional equipment includes power steering, mechanical brakes, spotlights, manual windows, and an AM/FM radio. Recent servicing resulted in refreshed brakes and new wheel cylinders all around and the car is offered with a clean Florida title in the seller's name.
Finished in two-tone Colonial White (E) over Azure Blue (L), the car's exterior features a removable white hardtop, dealer-installed spotlights with side mirrors, and chrome dual exhaust tips with matching bumpers and trim pieces. A total of 14,713 examples were produced for the model year and this one appears to be offered in great overall condition.
Power steering is equipped to handle a set of wide whitewall Coker radials fitted over standard chrome finned turbine wheel covers and all of the wheel cylinders were replaced along with some work on the brakes during a recent service. Brakes are mechanically operated and suspension consists of stock components including a leaf-sprung solid rear axle with a coil-sprung independent system on the front.
The bench seat interior is upholstered in two-tone white vinyl and gray cloth while the doors, dash, and carpeting come finished in a body-matching blue and white theme. Standard equipment includes an AM radio, blue lap belts, heater/defroster, column-shifted automatic transmission, and an analog clock.
Instrumentation is mounted behind the factory 3-spoke steering wheel and consists of a 120-mph speedometer along with dials for fuel level and coolant temperature. The 5-digit odometer is reported to show 50,532 miles driven on the chassis and an analog clock is fitted in the center of the dash.
Power is sent to the rear wheels by a Ford FE series 352ci V8 in conjunction with an automatic transmission which was rated for 300hp in 1958 with a 4-barrel carburetor. The engine bay appears to have retained its factory look and is reported to run and drive properly without any notable issues.
