Vehicle Story

This 1947 Ford pickup was the recipient of a 4 1/2 year restoration completed in early 2019 and has been driven less than 150 miles on a rebuilt Mercury 255ci flathead V8 paired with a Ford 3-speed C4 automatic transmission. Specific performance enhancements include a new dual exhaust system, 12-volt wiring system, and vintage-style instrument panel. This 1/2 Ton pickup is now offered with documentation and a clear Colorado title in the seller's name.

Ford Motor Company made a dramatic move in 1942 when they decided to adopt integrated fenders and headlights in the commercial vehicle market. Painted PPG Copper Brown Brandywine Metallic with Harvest Moon accents, this Ford 1/2 Ton pickup is accompanied by a spare tire mounted along the driver side, newer wood bed slats, running boards, waterfall-style grille, and dual exhaust. Add-ons were incorporated as part of the refurbishment including all-new smoke side and rear glass, a new dual exhaust system connected to Fenton headers, and a one-piece curved windshield that replaces the original two-piece split windshield.

Color-matched steel wheels are capped by chrome-finished hubcaps and bright trim rings and wrapped in tires with good tread remaining. A mounted spare tire is included with the sale.

The interior was professionally done using genuine cowhide leather on the two-tone brown and beige bench seat, while the door panels are finished in similar materials. The metal dash was color-matched in brown to the exterior, and a two-spoke steering wheel with a Ford bowtie center logo has been installed along with new brown automotive carpet, a Lokar floor shift lever, and a custom-built floor console that includes two cup holders.

The replacement aftermarket vintage-style instrument panel with a 12-volt wiring system provides a 140-mph speedometer as well as accompanying gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads 108 miles which reflects the mileage since completion of the restoration. True mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The original Ford 239ci flathead V8 was replaced with a rebuilt Mercury 255ci flathead V8 that features triple Stromberg carburetors and Fenton headers that feed into the new dual exhaust system. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a Ford 3-speed C4 automatic transmission which is shifted into gear through a Lokar floor shifter. The brakes have been upgraded to include a power brake booster that is mounted to the frame.

Included in the sale are; interior leather swatches, exterior paint in both colors, and a color-matched original heater that has not been installed. Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.

@DM – Just Beautiful: Car would be going to south Florida. Reputable transporters will not be able to deliver for a long time. Wondering where would you store the vehicle in your city and how much would it be per month. Too may questions to ask for a transaction that will go over 25K via this medium unfortunately. ...

Hello DM, Yes, I am fine with storing the pickup for you until a reputable transport company can pick it up! I’d store it for one month for free. If longer storage is needed, probably $50/mo. thereafter. I’m sure the pickup would love the Florida sun! Lol.
