This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air two-door hardtop restomod has been driven 1,200 miles since undergoing a professional frame-off restoration in 2017. Finished in Candy Apple Red over a two-tone tan and brown leather interior, it draws its power from a 430-horsepower LS3 6.2-liter V8 paired with a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission. This Bel Air has been owned by the seller for 18 months and comes equipped with a newer chassis, an overhauled suspension system, and enhancements including modern gauges, Flowmaster exhaust, power rack-and-pinion steering, and chrome-finished wheels. It is available now with records and receipts as well as a clear Indiana title in the seller’s name.
This second-generation Bel Air wears Candy Apple Red paint which is in great condition, according to the seller. The exterior design is accented with brightwork for the front and rear bumpers, egg-crate grille, side moldings, and dual outlets for the Flowmaster exhaust beneath the rear bumper.
This Bel Air rides on a set of chrome five-spoke Intro wheels and new Bridgestone tires that were put on during the restoration completed in 2017.
The interior is furnished with two-tone tan and brown glove leather bench seats in both rows, color-coordinated door panels, and a body-color dash. Features include tan carpeting with black rubber floor mats, manual crank windows, air conditioning, a Hurst manual shift lever topped with a Chevrolet Performance shift knob, a push-button radio, and a full-width metal fascia plate with "Bel Air" script on the passenger side.
Behind the 4-spoke steering wheel, an aftermarket Classic Instruments gauge cluster has taken the place of the car’s factory unit. Instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and accompanying gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, voltage, and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer currently reads 1,200 miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
Under the hood is an LS3 6.2-liter V8 engine that generates 430 horsepower. That is paired with a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission which sends the engine's power to the road through the rear wheels. The seller reports an oil change was performed a year ago.
As part of the restomod conversion process, the car received a new chassis, a protective underbody coating, coilovers, power rack and pinion steering, disc brakes, and a Ford nine-inch rear end. Pictures of the car's undercarriage are available in the photo carousel.
The video below shows an exterior walkaround of the car along with footage of it idling and revving. Sale includes records and receipts for parts.
