This 1962 Triumph TR3 British-built two-door roadster is accompanied by invoices totaling over $9,000 spent on reconditioning of the motor, gearbox, braking system, and more within the last 1,000 miles. The 2.0-liter inline-4 is described as being fully sorted and paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. Offering a wood-rimmed wheel, chrome luggage rack, and replacement carpeting, this TR3 is finished in Signal Red over a black vinyl interior and now offered with service records, owner's books and manuals, spare parts, and a current Connecticut registration in the seller’s name.
The TR3 model was produced between 1955 and 1962 with assembly in Coventry, England, building upon the prior TR2 and sporting a full-width grille for the final year. This 1962 example is painted Signal Red (32) and includes a contrasting black vinyl removable top with separate side pieces and chrome bumpers, moldings, fender-mounted sideview mirrors, door handles, and a luggage rack. The seller has provided specific photos in the carousel illustrating circled areas of corrosion along the bottom edges of the front fenders.
15" chrome-finished wire wheels with knock-off spinner caps are fitted, and braking is addressed by discs up front and drums in the rear. Suspension underpinnings consist of double A-arms up front with coil springs and tube shocks, while leaf springs bring up the rear. Documentation from Vantage Motors provides an itemized list of areas addressed during the 2014 overhaul, including but not limited to ball joints, bushings, seals, leaf springs, tie rod ends, and shocks. A four-wheel alignment was performed at the same time.
The two-seat interior is fitted with reupholstered black vinyl buckets, matched to the door panels, dash, and replacement carpeting. The seller notes that the front floorboards were replaced under prior ownership but would benefit from OEM replacement. Amenities include a Hillman wood-rimmed steering wheel, a wood shift knob, and a dash-mounted rearview mirror.
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and accompanying gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 64k miles, though true chassis mileage is unknown.
The dual-carbureted 2.0-liter OHV inline-4 received extensive mechanical attention in 2014 at a specialty facility called Vantage Motors in Stamford, Connecticut, accounting for over $9,000 in invoices for parts and labor. The hoses, timing chain and tensioner, radiator, thermostat, and carburetor were all replaced or rebuilt at the time. An electric fan has been added and all systems are performing optimally per the seller. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted 4-speed manual transmission.
The sale includes service records, the original steering wheel, two spare front lights, the original jack in Signal Red, TR3 restoration manuals, owner's books, and more.
