Vehicle Story

This 1950 Chevrolet Series 3100 5-window pickup has been with the seller for the past 5 years and is now available in Fennville, Michigan. Power is sent to the rear wheels by a 235ci inline-6 cylinder engine sourced from a 1955 model mated to a 4-speed manual transmission which last underwent servicing in 2020 and was noted to be in great running condition. Features include an updated interior with working gauges and electrical components, a stereo system, newer brakes and an overhauled front suspension. This 1950 5-window pickup is offered with a clean Michigan title in the seller’s name.

The exterior was refinished in green at an unknown date but is noted to be in great condition featuring light green pinstriping along the sides with chrome and stainless trimmings as accents. Additional features include a split-pane windshield, side steps, dual exhaust tips, a newer wood-slatted truck bed and a 5-window cab complete with clean and clear glass panels.

Braking and steering systems are both stock and mechanically operated while the brakes were all readjusted in 2020 and noted to be in like-new condition. The wheels come complete with chrome hub caps and a set of Wild Country radials which were recently balanced and rotated and confirmed to be in great shape.

The interior has been outfitted in newer cloth upholstery over the bench seat which was recently repaired with improved mounting components. Windows are cranked manually and reported to be working properly along with all interior gauges and electrical systems including the stereo system.

Instrumentation is framed by the correct 3-spoke steering wheel and consists of an 80-mph speedometer along with a separate dial offering gauges for oil pressure, battery voltage, coolant temperature and fuel level. The odometer shows 3,940 miles, but the seller does not know the vehicle's true mileage.

Power is provided by a 235ci inline-6 cylinder engine sourced from a 1955 model paired with a 4-speed floor-shifted manual transmission. A full service was conducted in 2020 including a new HEI ignition system, the addition of a manifold heating system, new carburetor and air cleaner, fresh hoses, belts, thermostat and coolant, a replacement valve cover and side cover gaskets, refreshed radiator and a compression check and clutch adjustment. The drivetrain is reported to run well without any notable issues.

The front suspension was overhauled in 2020 with new leaf spring, bushings and shocks followed by greasing and repair of all other components. A small amount of surface rust has been indicated on the underside but not anything in need of repair.

Additional photos of the truck have been made available for viewing in the image gallery along with photos of the mechanic’s notes from the work completed in 2020.

@belschner – the gauges are working. Don’t know what a “flip” windshield is??? ...

Some had a bracket attached in the center of the windshield inside the cab that allowed you to flip it open to get fresh air in while driving. It is hard to find one that has that and if you get the part it's $800.00
