Vehicle Story

This 1990 Ford Bronco II XL rolled out of Ford's Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky with four-wheel drive and a 2.9-liter V6. Since then, it has been owned by two families and spent its life in North Carolina. It comes finished in light blue with dual side stripes over a blue cloth interior equipped with power steering, manual windows, push-button controls for the transfer case, and an aftermarket Jensen radio head unit with a motorized pop-up color screen. Power comes from a 2.9-liter V6 and is sent to the road through a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and part-time four-wheel drive. Available now, this Bronco II XL comes with a clean CARFAX report detailing its service history, an AutoCheck report from the selling dealer, and a clear title in the seller's name.

Following its debut as a 1984 model, the Ranger-based Bronco II was visually updated for 1989 with a new front-end design. This particular XL from 1990, the Bronco II's final production year, is dressed in light blue paint with dual contrast stripes that run down the length of the body sides above a set of chrome wheel arch moldings. Other exterior features include chrome bumpers with black trim strips, tinted windows, rear side windows that extend into the roofline, and a rear wiper.

The seller notes that the paint is fair, but shows some weathering in some areas, including cracking and bubbling on the rear driver's-side fender as well as cracking on the rear passenger's-side fender and a small dent in its wheel arch trim. Pictures in the photo carousel show wear to the paint on the roof and irregularities around the top edge of the rear side windows.

The cabin is furnished with blue carpeting, blue cloth seats, and blue door panels with carpeted lower sections. Equipment includes manual windows, power steering, front bucket seats separated by a center console with change and cup holders, and a split rear bench seat. The Bronco II's 1989 refresh also equipped it with a redesigned dashboard. In this particular model, it houses shift-on-the-fly controls for the transfer case, an aftermarket Jensen AM/FM/CD player head unit with a retractable pop-up color screen, and instrumentation that includes a gear selector window, an 85-mph speedometer and a 6K-rpm tachometer along with gauges for the battery voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The 5-digit analog odometer reads 89,539 miles. The seller states that that is an accurate figure, but the CARFAX report mentions that the odometer has potentially been rolled over.

According to the seller, the driver's seat is slightly worn and faded. There is also damage to the passenger's-side sun visor and several small tears to the headliner near it. Additionally, the air conditioning is inoperative and does not blow cold air. The seller is unsure whether it needs a recharge or additional work.

Ford began offering the Bronco II with a 2.9-liter "Cologne" V6 that generated 140 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque in the 1986 model year. The same engine is found under the hood of this model and comes connected to a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and a four-wheel drive system with a low-range setting. Per the seller, the Autocheck report shows that in December of 2020 the vehicle received a multiple-point vehicle inspection and an oil and/or filter change.

Additional hardware includes a Dana front axle, automatic locking front hubs, and power disc/drum brakes. The 15-inch steel wheels are covered with hubcaps and surrounded by Hankook Optimo tires. The seller states they are unaware of their age, but that the tires do not show any signs of wear or cracking. Additional pictures of the vehicle can be found in the photo carousel. There is also a video showcasing the exterior and interior that features start-up and idling footage.

Vehicle is available with a bumper hitch-ball receiver. The selling dealer charges a $125 documentation fee in addition to the sale price of the vehicle.
