This 1997 Honda Prelude Coupe is a two-owner example with 73,690 miles that has been with the seller for 14 years, during which time it has always been garaged kept, and serviced regularly. Painted Chameleon by the previous owner, the car is powered by a replacement 2.2-liter inline-four mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Work performed within the past few years consists of a replaced fuel tank and pump, gas tank, spark plugs, supercharger belts, ECU, new muffler, distributor, and brake rotors. Features include air conditioning, tinted windows, power windows, locks, mirrors, and sunroof, body flares, dual airbags, and more. Located in Holly Lake Ranch, Texas, this Prelude is offered with original dealer documentation and a clear title in the seller's name.
The Honda Prelude spanned from 1978 until 2001 and this 1997 example represented the fifth and final generation. Painted Chameleon by the previous owner prior to 2007, the car's rust-free exterior features a sunroof, color-matched sideview mirrors, rear spoiler, and decal badging on the front windshield and rear window. A new key locking security system was installed in November 2020.
Chrome-finished wheels are wrapped in low profile tires. The seller reports that one new tire was installed last year and the ACCUAIR air suspension system and lifters were installed in 2012. The airbags have multiple height settings and the vacuum pump is located in the trunk. A spare tire is included with the sale of this vehicle.
The factory Prelude front seats were replaced with higher end bucket seats upholstered in black leather, while the rear features the original gray cloth bucket seats in excellent condition with factory seatbelts. The seller notes there is a small crack in the front seat and amenities include air conditioning, cruise control, and power seats and locks. Interior equipment includes laser engraved switches, a new headliner, door panels, dash pad, and a custom-built roll bar. The factory head unit was replaced with an aftermarket JL AM/FM/CD stereo, which is wired to the 12-inch subwoofer speaker located in the trunk. The seller states that the LCD screen in the backseat is not currently working, and the nitrous kit and bottle are available but currently disconnected.
Instrumentation is delivered via a 150-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and Auto Meter gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The aftermarket computer was replaced 8 months ago, and the five-digit mechanical odometer reads 73,690 miles. According to the seller, less than 2,000 miles have been driven on the replacement engine.
The replacement 2.2-liter inline-4 was rated at 195 horsepower when new and received an oil change and service in March 2021. A supercharger kit was installed and power is directed to the front wheels via a console-shifted 5-speed manual transmission. According to the seller, the nitrous oxide system with a full tank is available but the pillar gauges are currently disconnected, as they were not hooked up with the replacement engine.
