This 1972 Datsun 510 is an unmodified station wagon powered by an L16 1.6-liter inline-4 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. This example is a three-owner, long-term California car wearing blue license plates, new Nitto tires, and a custom steering wheel. Finished in Pale Green over a black vinyl interior, this 510 is now offered with the original steering wheel, an extra set of 13” wheels and tires, $7,000 in receipts for work performed since taking ownership, and a clear California title in the seller’s name.
Marketed outside the U.S. market as the Bluebird, the 510 model has history dating back to 1968 and has been sold as a sedan, coupe, and station wagon. This 510 from 1972 is said to retain a largely original coat of Pale Green paint and has a rust-free body with straight lines and quad headlamps. Brightwork is in good condition, comprised of chrome for the bumpers, window moldings, a driver side mirror, and original badging. The sideview mirror and right rear taillight are cracked, and the rear bumper shows some bends as shown in the photo carousel.
Black-finished 15” aluminum wheels are wrapped in new 205/50 Nitto Neo Gen tires. Braking is handled by disc brakes up front, and suspension engineering leverages MacPherson struts up front and independent, semi-trailing arms in the rear.
The interior is trimmed with original upholstery in black vinyl, comprised of buckets up front and a bench in the rear. The door panels and carpeting are color-coordinated and the rear seat folds flat to offer maximum cargo utility out back. Amenities include tinted windows, a three-spoke NRG Innovations steering wheel, and a push-button radio. The seller notes that the air conditioning is not operational.
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads approximately 11k miles, although true chassis mileage is unknown.
The 1.6-liter L16 inline-4 is up to date on maintenance per the seller and cooled by an aluminum radiator. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted 4-speed manual transmission.
The sale includes the original steering wheel and an extra set of 13” four-spoke wheels and older Roadpro tires. The seller has provided videos for a walk-around and a cold start.
