1974 AMC AMX

This 1974 AMC Javelin AMX coupe is finished in red with black hood stripes over a black vinyl interior equipped with bucket front seats, power steering, and a Sparkomatic AM/FM radio. Power comes from a 304ci V8, which the seller believes is original to the car and comes paired with a 3-speed manual transmission. Available now, this Javelin AMX is offered by the selling dealer with a clean title.

This Javelin AMX is from the Javelin's final model year and comes dressed in red, which contrasts with the black accent stripes on the hood. The seller states that the paint is from a previous respray and has some orange peeling that can be seen upon close inspection. The body features an integrated trunk spoiler, dual exhaust finishers that exit below the rear bumper, and brightwork on the bumpers, door handles, rocker panel moldings, and greenhouse glass trim. As the pictures in the photo carousel to the right show, there is minor cosmetic damage to the middle of the front chrome bumper.

Slotted 5-lug wheels with American Motors-branded center caps are wrapped in tires with black sidewall lettering.

The interior is trimmed in black vinyl upholstery with silver accents and coordinating door panels, dash, carpeting, and floor mats. An AMX badge is affixed to the driver- and passenger-side door panels and the manual transmission's shifter is floor-mounted. Additional interior equipment includes heat and an AM/FM radio. According to the seller, the radio works, but the 8-track tape player needs to be looked at. 

Instrumentation is framed by an AMC 3-spoke steering wheel and housed within a machined aluminum panel that communicates information via a 120-mph speedometer, a clock, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature. The 5-digit odometer currently shows approximately 90,510 miles, although true chassis mileage is unknown.

The 304ci V8 was rated at 150 horsepower and 245 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 3-speed manual transmission.
