Vehicle Story

This 1974 Volkswagen Beetle has been with the seller for 8 years and was the recipient of a professional mechanical and cosmetic restoration which was completed from 2015 through 2019. Power is produced by a recently rebuilt 1,550cc flat-4 cylinder paired with a 4-speed manual transmission and updates include a disc brake conversion, lowered suspension, Porsche wheels, newer interior, fresh paint and more. Less than 3,000 miles have been driven since the completion of the restoration and the car is now available in Bay Village, Ohio with a clean title in the seller's name and 105,223 miles on the odometer.

The car was refinished in 1966 livery by S&S Autobody in 2018 featuring two-tone Seafoam Green over Pearl White paintwork with chrome trimmings and correct badging. Features include a roof rack, deleted front and rear bumpers and chrome dual exhaust tips at the rear. The seller notes some minor and normal surface rust is present on the underside of the body after less than 3,000 of driving since the restoration was completed.

A set of Porsche wheels are equipped and come wrapped in newer tires that have less than 3,000 miles of use and stopping power is provided by a 4-wheel disc brake which conversion involving the replacement of all brake lines, rotors, pistons and a new master cylinder. The car rides 2.5-inches lower due to the installation of drop spindles and the suspension consists of all new and refreshed components.

The interior is was refinished during the restoration and comes outfitted white vinyl seat and door coverings over black flooring with stainless hardware throughout. A stereo system with Bluetooth capability is currently uninstalled but will be included in the sale and the heating system is plumbed but missing the channels to make it functional. Additionally, a new wiring harness was installed in 2019 along with 12-volt electrical leaving all other electronic components in working order.

Instrumentation can be found behind the 4-spoke steering wheel and consists of a 100-mph speedometer with an integrated fuel level dial. The 5-digit odometer is reportedly accurate and has turned over a total of 105,223 miles.

Power is produced by an air-cooled 1,550cc flat-4 cylinder engine paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox which was given an overhaul as part of the restoration process including a new Webber carburetor in 2019 complete with ceramic coated jets. Mechanical work was completed professionally by Galati Foreign Car Service in Ohio and the drivetrain is said to be in great running condition.

Additional photos of the underside and the rest of the car have been made available for viewing in the image gallery.
