Vehicle Story

This 1964 Chevrolet El Camino two-door pickup moves under the power of a performance drivetrain, powered by a replacement 327ci V8 paired with a numbers-matching Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. This El Camino received a frame-off restoration and bears a rust-free body with straight lines, good finishes, and bright chrome. Modern upgrades include added air conditioning, Chip Foose 15” aluminum wheels, and power-assisted disc brakes with cross-drilled rotors. Finished in Viper Red over a red vinyl interior, this second-generation El Camino is now offered with service records, an owner’s manual, sales literature, and a clear Idaho title in the seller’s name.

The second-generation El Camino pickup debuted in 1964 and shared the A-body platform with the Chevelle midsize passenger car. This example from that initial year was the recipient of a frame-off restoration under prior ownership and was resprayed in Viper Red. Accenting brightwork is rust-free for the bumpers, grille, window trim, rocker moldings, and sideview mirror. The interior of the bed shows in good condition and free of scratches or damage, and the exhaust system has dual outlets.

Aluminum five-spoke 15” Chip Foose wheels are wrapped in newer BFGoodrich Traction T/A blackwall tires. Stopping is assisted by power disc brakes, cross-drilled rotors, and red-finished calipers.

The two-seat interior is fitted with reupholstered red vinyl buckets split by a center console and cup holder, matched to the door panels, dash, carpeting, and floor mats. Amenities include cruise control, a tilt steering wheel, a Hurst shift lever, and aftermarket air conditioning.

Instrumentation is held within an engine-turned aluminum panel and includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and a gauge for fuel level with warning lights for voltage, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. Two additional gauges have been added beneath the dash, and the five-digit mechanical odometer reads 990 miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The replacement 327ci V8 was sourced from a 1965 model year vehicle and features an Edelbrock intake manifold, braided hoses, and various engine bay dress-up accents. The powerplant received an oil change and an air conditioning recharge in September 2021, and power is directed to the rear wheels via a numbers-matching Muncie 4-speed manual transmission and a 10-bolt positraction 3.08 rear end.

The sale includes service records, an owner’s manual, and sales literature.
