Vehicle Story

This 1967 Chevrolet Nova SS received a restoration under previous ownership that involved the installation of a new carbureted 327ci V8 crate engine with a reported 350 horsepower, new Vintage Air air conditioning, power steering and brakes, tires, and interior furnishings, including the carpeting, floor mats, upholstery, and headliner. The engine sends its power to the road through a Muncie 4-speed manual that was rebuilt six months ago and a 12-bolt rear end. Available now with fewer than 1,000 miles on its new power plant, this Nova SS comes with a current Louisiana registration sticker, an owner's manual, three keys, a Vintage Air AC manual, and a clear Louisiana title in the seller's name.

As the car's VIN indicates, it left GM's Willow Run, Michigan factory as a Nova SS, the flagship version of the Chevy II. It comes finished in white with brightwork on its front and rear wraparound bumpers, grille, driver-side mirror housing, greenhouse glass trim, door handles, fuel filler door, and trunk accent bar. Badging includes Nova SS, Super Sport script, and 327 emblems.

Slotted 14-inch Rally wheels are set inside of BFGoodrich Radial T/A and Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires.

As part of the restoration process, the interior was outfitted with a new combination of blue carpeting, "Nova SS" floor mats, headliner, and blue and white front bucket and matching rear bench seating. New parts installed at the same time include power steering and power brake hardware as well as a Vintage Air air conditioning system. Other items on the equipment list are an aftermarket 4-spoke Lokar Lecarra steering wheel connected to a tilt steering column, a reportedly functional AM/FM radio, manual windows, and a floor-mounted manual shifter topped with a white cueball-style knob.

The dashboard houses a horizontal 120-mph speedometer and a fuel gauge. The current owner who has had the car for the last year and a half reports there are currently 86,500 miles on the odometer, but that the aftermarket engine has fewer than 1,000 miles on it. A trio of white-faced Bosch auxiliary gauges mounted under the center HVAC vents shows the oil pressure, battery voltage, and coolant temperature. Those are positioned next to an 8k-rpm standalone Auto Meter Auto gage tachometer.

Inside the engine bay is a 327ci V8 crate engine connected to a 4-bbl carburetor. Output is channeled to the pavement through a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt rear end. According to the seller, the gearbox was rebuilt and the engine oil was changed six months ago

Pictures of the car's underbody are in the photo carousel to the right.

Sale includes a current Louisiana registration sticker, an owner's manual, three keys, and a Vintage Air AC manual.

I’m not sure because the car is undercoated.

@Red76c10 – Vin # is incorrect for a true SS,has to start with 118 ...

The VIN starting with 117 is a true SS but with an inline six, 118 is the 327 powered SS. This car had a new crate engine, a 327 V8 installed at the time of restoration.

@KarlKnaak – Looks nice! If I look up the vin and trim tag numbers will this be a true SS Nova? Also is the ex. color white inter blue alongwith the 327/4 speed when it left the factory? Thanks, Karl ...

I don’t know what the original equipment was when it came out of the factory. It is a real SS but was born as a 6 cylinder. That engine has been replaced as you see.
