This 1929 Ford Model A roadster is an award-winning custom build powered by a 350ci Chevrolet V8 paired with an automatic transmission. This hot rod comes from two decades of family ownership and comes with detailed handwritten notes dating back to 1999 chronicling the car’s cosmetic and mechanical evolution. Features include staggered-diameter aluminum wheels on Michelin tires, rust-free and straight body panels, and an overhauled interior. Finished in black with accenting airbrushed flames and a Carson padded convertible top over a gray vinyl interior, this roadster is now offered with the aforementioned documentation and a clear California title in the seller’s name.
Rolling out in 1928, the Model A replaced the Model T after an 18-year production run, offered in a variety of body styles. This two-door roadster from the subsequent year was restored in gloss black with airbrushed flames on the nose and has a Carson convertible black padded top enclosing the cabin. The exterior features narrow taillights and a disappearing license plate at the rear, and the rust-free body is accented by black for the headlight housings, running boards, and some exposed suspension elements.
Aluminum five-spoke directional wheels are wrapped in newer Michelin tires in staggered sizing, with LTX 30” tires on 15” wheels in the rear and Destiny 185/70-sized tires on 14” wheels up front. The frame is powder-coated and the suspension features adjustable perches.
The interior is trimmed with a gray vinyl bucket seat and matching lap belts, door panels, and carpeting. Conveniences include a tilt-adjustable steering wheel, an ignition kill switch, a wolf whistle horn, and an AM/FM/cassette radio. The trunk is lined in gray carpeting and houses a fire extinguisher.
Instrumentation is housed within a billet aluminum dash panel and includes a replacement 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 22k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The side-hinged hood opens to a replacement Chevrolet 350ci V8 is equipped with Edelbrock performance heads, GM roller rockers, triple two-barrel carburetors, and a new radiator, fan, and shroud. An oil change was performed in late 2019, and detailed historic maintenance notes are included in a spiral-bound handwritten notebook of chronological entries dated 1999 through current. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a column-shifted automatic transmission.
Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.
The sale includes a spiral notebook of documentation and additional build information.
