This 1959 Ford F100 is finished in red over a tan upholstered interior. Delivered new by Universal Motor Company of Bismarck, ND in March of 1959, the truck had been stored since 1990 until 2015 when it was repainted. Additional items addressed include reupholstering the bench and updating wheels. Powered by a 223ci 6-cylinder engine, the engine is said to be original to the truck, and power is sent to all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Now offered with factory manuals and original dealer literature, this third-generation F-Series 4x4 is now offered with a clear Minnesota title in the seller’s name.
Finished in Torch Red, the truck was refinished to its factory color in 2015 after being pulled from storage. Built from 1957-1960, the 3rd generation F-series featured quad headlights incorporated into the grille with "Ford" lettering on the front of the hood. Available in two different bed styles, this truck is equipped with a styleside bed featuring smooth sides with the wheel wells integrated into the bed floor.
The truck rides on 17” five-spoke chrome wheels that were added at the time the truck was repainted, and the original hubcaps are included in the sale. Bridgestone Dueler A/T tires are fitted on all four corners measuring 225/70.
The interior features a cloth bench seat that was reupholstered in 2015. The dashboard and interior panels are finished in the same Torch Red as the exterior, with black carpeting and rubber floormats. The seller notes the headliner above the passenger is somewhat faded but intact, additionally, the duct for the defroster is not hooked up.
Behind the factory three-spoke steering wheel is the instrument cluster which consists of a 100mph speedometer, fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, water temperature gauge and voltage warning light. The analog odometer reads 39,465, though true mileage is unknown. In approximately 5 years of ownership, the seller has added just 200 miles.
Under the hood sits the original 223ci inline 6-cylinder engine. Rated for 137 horsepower when new, power is sent to all four wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission. During the trucks 25-year storage, the seller notes it was routinely started and brought up to operating temperature, though not driven. All fluids were changed when it was pulled out of storage and no mechanical parts needed replacement. The original "oil-bath" air cleaner rests on top of a 2 barrel carburetor, with the factory intake and exhaust manifolds being retained.
1959 marked the first year four-wheel drive was available on the F100 as a factory option. A Spicer 24 transfer case sends power to the 9" rear axle and Dana 44 front axle with manually locking hubs. Additional underbody photos are shown in the gallery
Included in the sale are various original service and warranty documents, as well as the original hubcaps. Located in Erhard, Minnesota, this 1959 Ford F100 4x4 is offered for sale on a clean Minnesota title in the sellers name.
