Vehicle Story

This 1940 Chrysler Windsor C-25 is a garage-kept coupe powered by a 241ci flathead I6 paired with a 3-speed manual transmission. Enhancements include a rebuilt carburetor, fuel pump, and front suspension; a newer alternator; and a 12-volt electrical system upgraded with new wiring as well as a replacement head gasket. The seller states that the vehicle runs and shifts smoothly, does not overheat, and is capable of traveling at freeway speeds. Finished in two-tone burgundy with gray fenders, this Chrysler is offered with uninstalled aftermarket fiberglass fender skirts, service records, receipts, an owner's manual, and a clear California title in the seller’s name.

The car was repainted under previous ownership in two-tone burgundy with gray fenders. The exterior features a two-piece windshield, integrated running boards, and brightwork on the chrome bumpers, side trim, headlight and taillight bezels, front grille, and hood, which features "Chrysler" lettering and emblems. Additional brightwork is found on the door handles, side fender vents, and windshield frame. According to the seller, the chrome is nice, but shows surface rust in some areas. New windows with the correct window sweeper, weather stripping, and division bar weather stripping have been installed. The windshield wipers work properly and the taillights, including the license plate light, function.

The wheels are covered with chrome hubcaps and surrounded by whitewall tires. Braking is assisted by power-operated front discs. The suspension was reportedly rebuilt to factory standards with NOS parts.

The interior offers light gray cloth front and rear bench seats along with a body-colored metal dash and dark gray carpeting. The manual transmission is operated by a column-mounted shifter. The door panels and headliner have been removed and will need to be replaced. According to the seller, small repairs to the floorboards were made by the previous owner in two areas.

Instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer and accompanying gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and amperage. According to the seller, the speedometer and gas gauge are nonfunctional. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 79,507 miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

Power comes from a 241ci flathead six-cylinder engine connected to a 12-volt electrical system. Updates include a Powermaster PowerGEN alternator, replacement head gasket, and rebuilt carburetor and fuel pump. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission.
