This 1978 MG MGB convertible is finished in Pageant Blue over an Autumn Leaf interior with a pair of vinyl bucket seats. Under the hood is the original 1.8-liter inline-four engine that was upgraded from the original single Zenith-Stromberg carburetor to dual SU carburetors and equipped with a new fuel pump in 2017. A four-speed manual transmission ties the British roadster’s drivetrain together. A new convertible soft top was installed in April 2020 and the rear axle seals, brakes pads, and shoes were replaced in 2016. The headlights have been upgraded to halogen bulbs and the taillights are now LED. Further upgrades include powder-coated wheels and the owner states that the tires have less than 3,000 miles. This four-owner MGB has been in the same family since 2005 and is available now with a clear title in the seller's name.
The exterior is finished in Pageant Blue and the seller states that it was repainted by the second owner between 1987-2005. A new black convertible soft top was installed in April 2020. On the rear trunk lid is a luggage rack and chrome body trim flows across the driver and passenger sides of the exterior. Upgraded halogen headlights and LED taillights have been installed. The seller advises that the front and rear black rubber bumpers have no cracking and are not sun-faded.
This MGB rolls on powder-coated four-spoke wheels with MG center caps. The seller states that the tires have less than 3K miles on them. The suspension has been upgraded with synthetic bushings, and the rear axle seals, brake pads, and shoes were replaced in 2016.
The interior features Autumn Leaf vinyl bucket seats with matching door panels, a black headliner, and gray carpeting. A black center console houses the gear shift lever, which is topped with a cherry wood knob. A three-spoke wood-trimmed steering wheel with an MG center cap complements the black dashboard.
This MGB has a black dashboard with a 120-mph speedometer, five-digit odometer, and trip odometer. The odometer reads 64,974 miles, but the seller states that the true mileage is unknown. The gauge cluster also features a tachometer, clock, and fuel, oil pressure, and coolant temperature gauges.
Under the hood is the original 1.8-liter inline-four engine that has been upgraded from a single Zenith Stromberg to a pair of SU carburetors. A new fuel pump was installed in 2017 and the oil was changed in April 2021. The engine is paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a Bell stainless steel exhaust.
