This unmodified 1997 Mercedes-Benz SL600 roadster is finished in Brilliant Emerald with an electric/hydraulic convertible top and a matching removable panorama tinted glass hardtop over a Parchment multi-tone leather interior. It comes equipped with Xenon High Intensity Discharge headlights, halogen front fog lamps, heated power seats, a Bose sound system, and the Sport Package, which includes unique exterior elements, 18-inch AMG monoblock wheels, and more. Power is supplied by a 6.0-liter V12 and channeled through a 5-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. Available now, this 75K-mile SL is offered with repair/maintenance receipts, a clean Carfax report, and a clear title.
Launched as a 1989 model, the R129-series Mercedes-Benz SL featured a new chassis, unibody construction, and the choice of six- or eight-cylinder engines. The V12-powered 600SL joined the lineup starting with the 1993 model year. The following year, Mercedes changed the nomenclature by putting the class designation before the displacement. This particular SL600 was configured with Brilliant Emerald paint, a body-color removable panorama tinted glass hardtop, and the Sport Package, which adds a modified front air dam, special side skirts, and a different rear apron as well as Sport badges. Other features include Xenon High Intensity Discharge headlights, halogen front fog lamps, a heated windshield and power mirrors, and rain-sensing wipers.
Another part of the Sport Package is a set of 18-inch AMG monoblock wheels, which are currently wrapped in tires with black sidewall lettering.
The Brilliant Emerald exterior is paired with a Parchment multi-tone interior. The heated 10-way power-adjustable seats, dashboard, door panels, sun visors, and pop-up rollbar are trimmed with leather. Woodgrain accents are located on the door panels and center console. Amenities include cruise control; central locking; an electrically adjustable tilt/telescoping steering column; three-position memory for the driver's seat, steering column, and heated exterior mirrors; three-position memory for the passenger seat; automatic climate control; and a six-speaker Bose audio system with an Acoustimass bass module, an AM/FM radio, and a trunk-mounted six-disc CD changer.
The instrument binnacle houses a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, fuel economy, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. A reading of 77,612 miles is displayed on the digital odometer.
Power is supplied by a naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V12, which came from the factory with 389 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. An electronically controlled five-speed automatic with driver-adaptive programming and the rear wheels send the engine's output to the road.
All 1997 SL600s came standard with power-assisted recirculating ball steering, an Adaptive Damping System with driver-selectable ride-height control, and power antilock brakes with ventilated discs and front/rear brake force proportioning. Pictures of the car's underbody are in the photo carousel to the right.
