Vehicle Story

This 1985 Ferrari 400i 2+2 coupe is one of 883 400i automatic models produced and was imported into Canada by Gentry Lane Autos in April of 1984. Equipment includes pop-up headlights, air conditioning, and an aftermarket SiriusXM-ready Sony head unit. Power is supplied by a fuel-injected 4.8-liter V12 and sent to the road through a 3-speed automatic and a limited-slip rear differential. Finished in blue over a tan leather interior that offers seating for four, this Italian grand touring car comes with a clean CARFAX report and a clear California title.

In November of 1979, Ferrari introduced the fuel-injected 400i as the successor to the carbureted 400. At first, it was nearly identical to the model it replaced, but it eventually received mechanical and cosmetic changes, including restyled side mirrors, a narrower radiator grille, rectangular driving lights, a body-color hood louver, and high-intensity fog lights in the rear bumper. According to Ferrari, it did not produce a version of the 400i for the US market, so this particular car from the 400i's final model year of 1985 was imported to Canada in April of 1984. It features blue bodywork accented with brightwork trim around the greenhouse glass and on the door handles and rocker panels. Equipment includes pop-up headlights, amber front turn signals, black front and rear bumpers, quad round taillights, and two pairs of round exhaust finishers.

The car rolls on a set of five-spoke wheels with yellow Ferrari prancing horse center caps and tires with black sidewall lettering.

The cabin is furnished with tan carpeting, leather bucket seating for four, color-coordinated door panels, a dark brown dashboard, and a matching center console. Equipment includes air conditioning and an aftermarket SiriusXM-ready Sony head unit.

Instrumentation by Veglia Borletti consists of a 180-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer that flank smaller gauges for the oil pressure and coolant temperature. The center stack houses an analog clock as well as readouts for the fuel level and oil temperature. The current odometer reading is 89,366 kilometers (55,530 miles), which the seller asserts is true and original.

The "i" in 400i stands for "injection," signifying that the 400i's 4.8-liter V12 has fuel injection, unlike its 400 predecessor, which came from the Ferrari factory with two banks of three Weber carburetors. The naturally aspirated engine delivers its output to the road through a 3-speed automatic gearbox and a limited-slip differential.

@Menko – I have 2 questions: 1. I just want to make sure that the car is normally registered in CA, not an exception through the referee process. That means it has the cats, air injection etc and has a current and regular valid smog certificate and with so few miles driven over the last 4 years, should easily pass again. 2. When does the registration ends? In other words, when does the car needs to be smogged again? I know it is only 25 min to auction end, but for CA buyers this is critical information. Thank you and GLWTA! Would very much appreciate to hear from the seller. ...

its a normal Ca registration . passed smog when i bought it . needs smog now , its on nonop . its part of a large collection .

I am unclear if there is a direct way to contact seller, but I am interested to drive over to Morgan Hill and see the car. If possible, can you pls let me know what best way to do so? Thanks!
