This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air two-door hardtop restomod rides on an adjustable coilover suspension and 17-inch front and 18-inch rear American Racing wheels, offering upgrades including a Wilwood braking system, a B&M shifter, and a replacement 383ci stroker V8 paired with a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission. Conveniences extend to the cabin, which features a custom center console, a Vintage Air A/C system, and a tilt-adjustable Ididit steering column. Finished in two-tone mother-of-pearl yellow and white over a tan cloth interior, this Bel Air is now offered with a clear Nevada title in the seller’s name.
Beginning in 1955, Chevrolet straightened the body panels on its passenger cars and adopted what later became known as shoebox styling. Modern cues were integrated into the design including wrap-around windshield glass and triangular taillights. This Bel Air from that year has a two-door hardtop roofline and has been repainted in two-tone mother-of-pearl yellow and contrasting white. The body is accented with brightwork including the bumpers, grille, window trim, dual side mirrors, rocker panel molding, and badging. Other features include Eddie Motorsports billet hood hinges, modern headlights, and chrome-finished dual exhaust outlets.
Five-spoke American Racing wheels measure 17 inches in the front and 18 inches in the rear, and come wrapped in Vogue tires. The suspension has been outfitted with CPP upper and lower control arms up front, QA1 adjustable coilover shocks, and Heidts two-inch drop spindles as well as a Ridetech four-link rear suspension with Ridetech adjustable coilovers. Steering is power-assisted by a CPP 500 Series power steering box; the braking system uses four-wheel Wilwood 12-inch cross-drilled and slotted disc brakes with a Talon brake booster.
The interior is fitted with replacement late-model tan cloth bucket seats split by a custom center console trimmed with woodgrain trim and matching door panels and carpeting. Amenities include a Vintage Air HVAC system, a B&M shift lever, dual cupholders, aluminum dash trim, and a Grant steering wheel connected to an Ididit tilt-adjustable steering column. The audio system is a retro-style Wonderbar AM/FM/XM Bluetooth head unit. The fully carpeted trunk contains a fire extinguisher.
The newer aftermarket instrument cluster contains a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and battery voltage. The digital odometer reads 5,457 miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The replacement 383ci stroker V8 employs a new carburetor, a Be Cool dual-electric fan setup, a high-performance fuel pump with an adjustable regulator and a trunk-mounted cutoff switch. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission and a Ford nine-inch limited-slip rear differential with 3.70 gearing. The seller adds that the rear end has been shortened to 58 inches for future wheel tubs.
