This 1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe two-door has been driven 32,934 miles since new and is one of the first five of 200 NASCAR-related Aerocoupes produced for the model year, powered by a 305ci V8 paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. This Monte Carlo is number 3 on the 1986 Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe Registry and reportedly completed a pace lap at Daytona International Speedway in February of 1986. The car was originally purchased in North Carolina from Buchanan Chevrolet. The car subsequently spent time in both Maryland and Virginia it where it was collector-owned and garage-kept until now. Finished in white over a maroon cloth interior, this fourth-generation Monte Carlo is now offered by the selling dealer with records, a clean Carfax report, and a clear title.
The Monte Carlo model was marketed as a personal luxury car, first debuting for the 1970 model year on the A-body platform as a two-door coupe. The fourth generation rolled out in 1981 with a move to the G-body platform. In 1986, a limited-edition 200-unit Aerocoupe model was developed in order to use the design in NASCAR racing. Special exterior bodywork, completed by Cars and Concepts in Brighton, MI, for this model included a semi-fastback roofline, a unique beveled rear window, and a trunk-mounted rear spoiler. This Aerocoupe has a rust-free body and wears its original white exterior finish with a urethane front end, quad headlights, fog lamps, beltline striping, color-keyed sport side mirrors, maroon Monte Carlo SS decals on the doors, and a dual exhaust system. Research by prior owners of this Monte Carlo and the GM Heritage Center gests that this car was one of five Product Evaluation Program (PEP) cars used by General Motors for media test drives and displays at NASCAR tracks upon the initial launch of the Aerocoupe model. The seller notes that there was a provision in the GM Employee Purchase Program that allowed company employees to designate their newly ordered vehicle for use in this program to receive a larger discount.
Factory 15-inch SS wheels are wrapped in 215/65 Goodyear Eagle GT+4 raised-white-letter tires. Handling is assisted by power steering and power front disc brakes.
The interior is fitted with maroon cloth bucket seats, split by a center console and color-matched to the door panels, dash, headliner, carpeting, and floor mats. Amenities include an SS-branded steering wheel, power windows, a radio, and air conditioning.
Instrumentation includes an 85-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, voltage, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 32,934 miles, which the seller states is accurate. According to the selling dealer, the car has only been driven 300 miles in the last 18 years.
The 305ci V8 was rated at 180 horsepower when new and is due for time-based maintenance, according to the selling dealer. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive.
Additional undercarriage photos can be found in the gallery.
The Carfax report shows a history that is free of accidents and damage, with the first record dated May of 1993 in Parkton, Maryland and the most recent entry logged in Powhatan, Virginia in September of 2011. The sale includes records. A $299 dealer fee will be added to the sale price.

@ppalko – What is all over the back of the front passenger seat? In the open door photo, the back is covered with something white? Hard to see it. ...
It appears what you are talking about is a lighting issue. The seats are in pristine condition, just as the rest of the car. I will see if I can get another picture. Thank you for your interest
