Vehicle Story

This 1981 Datsun 280ZX 2+2 sports hatchback is a grand-tourer that is powered by a 2.8-liter inline-6 paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. This Z has well-preserved upholstery, and upgrades including air conditioning, a Pioneer radio, and aluminum wheels. Finished in Light Brown Metallic over a tan cloth interior, this S130 280ZX is now offered with a CARFAX report with a clear South Dakota title in the seller’s name.

The S130-chassis sports hatchback first launched in Japan in 1978 as the Fairlady Z. This 280ZX from 1981 has a rust-free original body in Light Brown Metallic (832) featuring lower spoilers, black and chrome bumpers, bodyside moldings, sport color-matched mirrors, chrome B-pillar trim, and scooped headlight enclosures. Options include power mirrors and a power antenna, and finishes are described as being good throughout with nice panel fitment, and gloss. The CARFAX notes a accident was reported on April 29th, 2015.

Aluminum 14” wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires. Handling is aided by power steering and power four-wheel disc brakes.

The 2+2 interior is fitted with tan cloth bucket seats, matched to the center console, door panels, dash, and carpeting. Amenities include air conditioning, cruise control, a Pioneer AM/FM/CD radio, a quartz clock, intermittent windshield wipers, tinted glass, and power windows.

Instrumentation is presented by an 85-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads 40,698 miles however true mileage is unknown.

The fuel-injected L28E 2.8-liter inline-6 was rated at 145 horsepower. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 5-speed manual transmission.

Hello. More questions. How does the vehicle perform? How does it idle, start, cruise? Does it leak or use ANY fluids? Are all lights, signals, electrical components working properly? Are the brakes, tires and suspension in good working condition? What does it need attending to? Will I be able to drive it an 1100 mile trip home without repairs?
