This 1973 Volkswagen Type 4 Model 412 four-door fastback sedan resided with its original owner for 47 years and is a garage-kept, all-original car with straight panels, glossy finishes, and a well-kept interior. As Volkswagen’s first four-door, this 412 is powered by a rear-mounted 1,795cc dual-carbureted flat-4 paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission and described as being mechanically sound. Finished in Saturn Yellow over a brown vinyl interior, this 412 is now offered with a clear Illinois title in the seller’s name.
The Type 4 was a large family car launched by Volkswagen in 1968 in two-door, four-door sedan, and two-door station wagon body configurations. The model was Volkswagen’s largest passenger vehicle at the time and its first four-door, utilizing unibody construction along with styling that was credited to Pininfarina. A subsequent redesign was applied in 1972 with the launch of the 412 variant. This Type 4 four-door from 1973 is painted Saturn yellow, and body features include bright bumpers with guards, quad headlamps, bright sideview mirrors and moldings, and accessory window visors.
Silver-painted steel wheels with VW-branded center caps are wrapped in newer Michelin radial tires. The suspension uses coil springs, a trailing wishbone at the rear, and MacPherson struts up front. The seller notes that the brakes have been replaced.
The interior is trimmed with brown vinyl bucket seats which complement the matching door panels and carpeting. The black dash has a woodgrain applique face plate and is noted as being crack-free, and additional amenities include an AM/FM radio, door storage pockets, and a carpeted front cargo compartment.
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and a fuel gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 68k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The rear-mounted 1,795cc dual-carbureted flat-4 is said to run well, and power is fed to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted 3-speed automatic transmission.

is this vehicle currently being driven? does garage kept mean that it is parked in the garage and not being driven?
BID: $7,500
Great looking car! Are you the original owner as seller or a dealer representative? Is the odometer broken as it states they may not be original mileage or is there some other reason? s that the original paint? I read it that way but want to confirm. How does it run mechanically down the road? What immediate work may it need?

This car does not have dual carburetors, it is fuel injected (Bosch L-jetronic), a very reliable system.
