This 1979 Mercedes-Benz 300SD is powered by a 3.0-liter OM617 turbodiesel inline-5 paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. This 300SD remained with its original owner long-term and has been garage-kept throughout its life, receiving regular service at the Denver, Colorado Mercedes-Benz dealership per the seller. Finished in Light Ivory over a camel MB-Tex interior, this W116 300SD is now offered by the selling dealer with documentation, an owner’s manual, a first aid kit, and a clear Colorado title.
The W116 platform was utilized for a series of Mercedes-Benz flagship luxury sedans beginning in the early 1970s, and the turbodiesel 300SD sedan was introduced in May 1978. This 300SD four-door from 1979 is painted Light Ivory (623) and features brightwork for the grille, bumpers, side moldings, windshield trim, handles, and sideview mirror caps. The body is presented as being straight with good finishes throughout, and exterior equipment includes fog lamps, a power-operated sunroof, and a power antenna.
Steel 14” Bundt wheels are wrapped in 205/70-series tires.
The interior is upholstered with camel MB-Tex bucket seats in good condition, color-matched to the door panels, dash, and carpeting. Amenities include wood trim, 300SD-branded floor mats, automatic climate control, and power windows. The trunk contains a full-size spare tire.
VDO-branded instrumentation includes a 125-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads 113k miles, which is a true reading per the seller.
The 3.0-liter OM617 turbodiesel inline-5 was factory rated at 110 horsepower and 160 lb-ft of torque when new. Service over the course of the vehicle’s lifetime was carried out at a Denver Mercedes-Benz dealership per the seller, and power is fed to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 4-speed automatic transmission.
The sale includes documentation, a first aid kit, and an owner’s manual.
