This 1936 Buick Special is an older restoration that was repainted in the late 1990s and features its reportedly original 233ci inline 8-cylinder engine backed by a 3-speed manual transmission. Features include dual side-mounted spares, seat belts, headlamps with integrated turn signals, amber driving lights, pinstriped 16-inch wheels, whitewall tires, and a 12-volt electrical system. This Chateau Green classic Buick with a taupe mohair interior is available now and comes with its uninstalled original 6-volt electrical system, uninstalled spare ignition components, the original owner's manual, a parts catalog, a fitted car cover, and a clear Florida title in the seller’s name.
According to the seller, the body was repainted in Chateau Green in the late 1990s. Dual spares are mounted on the front fenders. The car comes equipped with chrome front and rear bumpers, a chrome waterfall grille, amber driving lights, and headlamps with integrated turn signals. Details include split front and rear windshields and rear coach doors. The seller states there is a paint chip on the passenger side and light cracking by the wheel wells.
A set of pinstriped 16-inch wheels with chrome hub caps and trim rings wear wide-whitewall bias-ply tires.
Taupe mohair upholstery covers the front and rear bench seats and extends to the door panels. Chrome manual window cranks and door handles are located on all four door panels. The front floor is covered with a rubber floor mat and the rear floor has dark green carpeting. Both rows of seats are equipped with seatbelts.
The steel dashboard is finished in black with painted faux woodgrain accenting the instrument panel and glove box cover. The clock does not function and the odometer is stopped at 87,000, leaving the actual total unknown. An emergency brake and heater can be found under the dashboard. Controls include three pedals and a 3-speed floor shifter as well as a "Buick 8" horn button on the banjo-spoke steering wheel.
Power comes from a Buick Straight-8 that is reportedly original to the car and is sent to the road through a 3-speed manual transmission. A 12-volt alternator has been added. Additional hardware includes a cowl-mounted horn, an oil-bath air cleaner, and a mechanical fan. Oil and lubrication service was completed six months ago as well as the conversion to a 12-volt electrical system. A new clutch, starter, wiring harness, distributor, coil, gas tank, fuel lines, and exhaust system have been installed within the last 10 years.
This Buick is equipped with front and rear hydraulic drum brakes and a full-length single exhaust. Additional pictures of the undercarriage are in the photo gallery to the right.
The uninstalled original 6-volt electrical system, uninstalled spare ignition components, the original owner's manual, a parts catalog, and a fitted car cover are included with the sale of the vehicle.
