This one-owner 1987 Buick Grand National is a rear-wheel-drive sport coupe powered by a turbocharged and intercooled 3.8-liter V6 paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The monochromatic exterior features quad square headlights, turn signals in the lower front fascia, a power bulge in the hood, and a rear spoiler. Inside, this G-body is equipped with two-tone front bucket and rear bench seats, a front center console, air conditioning, power locks and windows, cruise control, and a Delco radio with tape player. Finished in black over a gray and black cloth interior, this final-year Grand National is available now from an Illinois dealership and comes with factory manuals, an uninstalled window switch, a parts catalog, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clear title.
Inspired by the NASCAR Winston Cup Grand National Series and Buick's two Manufacturers Cup victories in the early 1980s, the Grand National came out in 1982. Over time, it adopted a monochromatic color scheme and grew more powerful before being discontinued in 1987. This particular Grand National from that final model year has black bodywork and matching bumpers, grille, hood, mirror caps, door handles, and a three-piece rear spoiler. Badges accent the grille, hood power bulge, front fenders, and trunk lid. The selling dealer reports a few paint chips on the edge of the driver's door and that the power antenna does not work.
Two-tone 15-inch wheels are set inside of tires with black sidewall lettering.
The cabin is furnished with black and gray cloth front bucket and rear bench seats, black carpeting, black floor mats with the Grand National logo, gray door panels, and a gray dashboard. Features include a power driver's seat, a center console, cruise control, air conditioning, power windows and locks, a Delco stereo with a cassette player, a Buick-branded three-spoke steering wheel, and a console-mounted automatic shifter.
Instrumentation consists of an 85-mph speedometer, a 6K-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level and boost pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 17,833 miles, which is in line with the mileage in the latest entry on the Carfax report dated September of 2021.
Power is supplied by a turbocharged, intercooled, and fuel-injected 3.8-liter V6 that produced 245 horsepower when new. A 4-speed automatic and the rear wheels get the LC2 engine's output to the road.
Photos of the car's underbody are in the picture gallery to the right.
The selling dealer has posted an exterior walkaround and road test video below. Factory manuals, an uninstalled window switch, and a parts catalog are included with the sale of the vehicle.
