This 1966 Pontiac Acadian Canso two-door is a Canadian-market compact convertible that was imported to the United States and underwent a restoration of its mechanical, exterior, and interior equipment. The seller has owned the vehicle for five years and has outfitted the car with a new exhaust system and clutch, power steering, and additional improvements. Power is provided by a 327ci V8 paired with a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. Finished in red over a white vinyl interior, this Acadian is now offered with a convertible boot, receipts, touch-up paint, and a clear Nebraska title in the seller’s name.
The compact Acadian was produced by General Motors of Canada beginning in 1962, sharing X-body underpinnings with the U.S.-based Chevrolet Chevy II Nova on a semi-unibody chassis. This 1966 Acadia convertible in top-line Canso trim was repainted red and equipped with a replacement power-operated white cloth retractable top under previous ownership. In recent years, the exterior underwent a partial restoration including replating of the brightwork. Additional features include a Pontiac-specific split front grille design, a white convertible boot, and integrated reverse lights in the rear bumper. The car is believed by the seller to be the only remaining example of its kind and has reportedly received awards at various car shows.
Silver steel wheels with chrome hubcaps are wrapped in tires with black sidewall lettering. Handling is assisted by power steering.
The interior is configured with white vinyl bucket seats and door panels, accented with red lap belts, dash, and replacement carpeting. Audio comes via a push-button radio. The trunk contains a spare tire, a first aid kit, and a fire extinguisher.
Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer and surrounding readouts for the oil pressure, coolant temperature, voltage, and fuel level. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 52K miles, but true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The 327ci V8 recently received a new exhaust and other maintenance under the seller’s ownership. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted Muncie 4-speed manual transmission with a new clutch and throwout bearing.
Additional photos showing the underside and dual exhaust system are available in the carousel.
The sale includes a convertible boot, receipts, and touch-up paint.
