This 1981 Cadillac Sedan deVille has a reported 42k original miles and was barn-kept long-term in Texas by the same family since new, receiving power from a 6.0-liter V8 paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. This deVille was sold new in April of its model year in Dallas, Texas by Sewell Village Cadillac to the seller’s grandfather and has resided in the same area through current day. Features include a vinyl d’Elegance roof, woodgrain interior trim, automatic climate control, and power convenience accessories. Finished in burgundy over a matching cloth interior, this fifth-generation Sedan deVille is now offered with a CARFAX report and a clear Texas title in the seller’s name.
First launching as a trim level of the Series 62 model, the deVille later became a standalone vehicle and was offered as Cadillac’s largest sedan. After a series of subsequent iterations, the car received a redesign for its fifth generation beginning in 1977. The new model was 9” shorter and 4” narrower than the previous year and rode on the General Motors C-body platform. All 1980 models got another facelift with a redesigned nose. This barn-kept deVille from that year was purchased new by the seller’s grandfather and retains its burgundy exterior finish with a matching d’Elegance vinyl roof. Brightwork is in good condition and the body displays straight, rust-free panels from front to back. The seller notes that paint is faded and there are some blemishes in the vinyl.
Steel 15” wheels with full wire covers and Cadillac crests are wrapped in Ironman whitewall tires.
The interior is upholstered with burgundy cloth split-bench seating and fold-down center armrests, matched to the door panels, dash, headliner, carpeting, and floor mats. The cabin is accented in woodgrain veneer, and other amenities include automatic climate control, a push-button radio, and a MPG sentinel. The seller notes that the windshield wiper control is not working and an auxiliary switch was installed to control operation. The power-operated driver seat motor is also not functioning.
Instrumentation is communicated through a sweeping 85-mph speedometer and a dash-mounted fuel gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 42k miles which the seller states is actual, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The 6.0-liter V8 was rated at 140 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a column-shifted 3-speed automatic transmission.
The CARFAX report shows history free of accidents or damage. There is a mileage inconsistency due to a 131k-mile reading in 1997. Since this vehicle has a five-digit odometer, the seller asserts that the mileage should have been recorded as 31k at the time. The seller has provided a series of videos illustrating condition and functionality.
I'm old enough to remember the 8-6-4 engine. Good luck.
