This 1987 Chevrolet V10 4x4 Scottsdale pickup comes with heavy-duty equipment including an auxiliary fuel tank, a chrome step bumper, locking hubs, and a Penda bedliner. Recent maintenance includes the installation of a newer exhaust system and BFGoodrich tires on the factory Rally wheels. Under the hood, the fuel-injected 350ci V8 is backed by a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission. Finished in Bright Red over a burgundy cloth bench interior, this final-year "square body" pickup is now offered by the selling dealer with owner’s manuals, a factory build sheet, a clean Carfax report, and a clear Virginia title.
Beginning in model year 1973, the third generation of General Motors’ C/K series of pickups went on the market in regular cab and crew cab configurations. This era of trucks took on the “square body” moniker, featured a rectangular front end, and underwent a variety of year-over-year revisions to trim, options, and running gear. Nomenclature was changed to R/V (R for two-wheel drive, V for four-wheel drive) in 1987 when the next-generation C/K series rolled out concurrently. This 1987 V10 fleetside short-bed example is a one-year-only model that marks the end of the square body era and the first year of fuel injection. It was repainted Bright Red under prior ownership and shows some areas of rocker panel and bumper corrosion as documented in the photo carousel. Equipment includes a body-color center grille, an auxiliary fuel tank, and halogen headlamps. The sliding rear window looks out onto the bed, which features a Penda drop-in bedliner.
Factory silver 16-inch Rally steel wheels have polished trim rings and are wrapped in 31-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A raised-white-letter tires with 2014 date codes.
The Scottsdale-trim interior provides a burgundy cloth bench seat accented by black door panels, a dark red dash, maroon carpeting, and red GM-branded rubber floor mats. Cab materials show some fading and wear consistent with age. Options include a trailer braking system, a push-button radio, tinted glass, air conditioning, a Comfortilt steering wheel, intermittent windshield wipers, cruise control, and a cargo area lamp.
Instrumentation is presented within a black bezel and includes an 85-mph speedometer, a quartz clock, a gear selection indicator, and readouts for the voltage, oil pressure, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 12Kmiles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The fuel-injected 350ci V8 runs well, although service is recommended due to the age of the vehicle. The Carfax report shows that an oil change took place in May 2020 and the exhaust system has been replaced, per the selling dealer. Power is transferred to all four corners via a column-shifted 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission. The rear axle has a 3.42 ratio as illustrated in the Service Parts Identification build sheet.
Additional photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.
The Carfax report shows an accident- and damage-free history and a successful Virginia safety inspection in May of 2020. The sale includes owner’s manuals and the SPID build sheet. A $299 dealer fee will be added to the final sale price.
