Vehicle Story

This 1974 Toyota Land Cruiser was repainted and equipped with a larger-displacement inline-6 engine under previous ownership. It received a variety of new parts within the past five years under current ownership, including the front seats, steering wheel, carburetor, wheels, and tires. Features include a fold-down windshield, aftermarket doors and an aftermarket soft top with plastic side and rear windows, late-model front bucket seats, and four-wheel drive with locking front hubs. Power from the engine is sent to the road through a 4-speed manual gearbox and a 2-speed transfer case. Refinished in blue with a black soft top over a black and gray interior, this garage-kept J40-series Land Cruiser is available now and comes with receipts and a clear South Carolina title in the seller's name.

The seller has had this Land Cruiser for the past seven years and reports that it was repainted blue under previous ownership. The front end features a fold-down windshield, external hood latches, a white grille and headlight frame, fender-mounted turn signals, and a black bumper with D-ring shackles. Black aftermarket doors with plastic windows and a black aftermarket top with plastic side and rear windows enclose the passenger compartment. At the rear, the swing-away spare tire carrier is mounted above the black bumper, which houses the oval-shaped taillights.

Within the last five years, black wheels with silver center caps and Cooper Discoverer tires were installed at all four corners and on the spare tire carrier.

The cabin has been fitted with late-model black leather front bucket seats with brown fabric inserts. The back row is equipped with a pair of forward-facing gray vinyl seats. The dashboard is color-matched to the exterior and equipped with a black top panel. A heater is mounted below. According to the seller, the vehicle does not have a radio, air conditioning, or power steering. They also note that the vehicle needs a new turn signal flasher. The interior is shown in one of the two videos below.

Instrumentation behind the newer Grant steering wheel consists of a 100-mph speedometer and gauges for the oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and amps. The seller reports the odometer shows 18,700 miles, which reflects the mileage on the second engine. Approximately 1,000 of those were added by the seller.

The original power plant was previously replaced with a larger-displacement inline-6 engine. Within the last five years, it was equipped with a new carburetor and battery. Power is routed through a 4-speed manual gearbox and a 2-speed transfer case for the four-wheel drive system. The first video below shows the engine idling.

Receipts will be included with the sale of the vehicle.
