This 1965 Chevrolet Impala SS convertible was with its last owner for 10 years and comes with a period-correct 409ci V8 engine connected to a Muncie 4-speed manual gearbox. Features include power steering, power brakes, factory air conditioning, power windows, a factory AM/FM radio, a front center console, and a power top. This red fourth-generation Impala with a red interior is available now with a red vinyl top boot and a clear title from the selling dealer.
The body is finished in red with a power-operated white convertible top and has Super Sport emblems and 409ci badges on the front fenders. A remote mirror with a chrome housing can be found on the driver’s door. A chrome bumper and grille and quad headlights can be found in the front. The windshield has a shaded brow line. A chrome bumper is mounted at the rear below the SS emblems, black trim, and six taillights with integrated reverse lights.
A set of 14-inch steel wheels with SS spinner hubcaps are wrapped in P215/75/R14 whitewall radial tires. Wheel arch trim is mounted at all four corners.
The interior is furnished with patterned red vinyl front bucket seats and a matching rear seat. The door panels are red and have SS badging and trim. The power window switches, vent window cranks, and remote mirror adjustment knob are chrome. Red carpeting with matching red vinyl floor mats is present. A day/night rearview mirror is mounted above the windshield.
The red dashboard is topped with a matching pad and houses a 110-mph speedometer. The odometer shows 51K miles, but the vehicle is being sold as mileage-exempt. A round gauge pod that includes fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and amp gauges can be found to the left. A 6K-rpm tachometer is located to the far right of the factory AM/FM radio. Climate controls and factory air conditioning vents can be found on the dash. The non-tilt steering column is topped with a red Impala steering wheel with a chrome half horn ring. The front seats are split by a center console that includes a 4-speed manual shifter, a non-operational clock, and an SS emblem. An aftermarket water temperature gauge is mounted under the dash. The trunk has correct splatter paint and contains a floor mat with a matching spare tire cover and a red vinyl convertible top boot.
According to the selling dealer, this car is equipped with a period-correct 400-horsepower 409ci V8 that was overhauled eight years ago and a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. The numbers show the block to be a 409ci engine with solid lifters, but the suffix code was removed when the engine was decked. The selling dealer believes this engine is not original to the car and states that the information on the casting numbers of the engine and transmission have been decoded using the Julian date code system. The block casting number is 3857656 with a Julian build date (193) of July 11, 1964. The heads with casting number 3852583 have a date code of 307 corresponding with November 2, 1964. The intake manifold has a casting number of 3814678. The transmission case number is 3851325. A chrome dual-snorkel closed element air cleaner, valve covers, and a Frigidaire air conditioning compressor are present. Factory A/C equipment as well as a tar top battery is in place.
The chassis and floors are matte black. The floors have been covered in undercoating and show no signs of rust. Full-length dual exhaust connected to cast iron exhaust manifolds exits at the rear. The 12-bolt rear axle has a casting number of 3852980N. Additional photos can be found in the carousel.
A red vinyl top boot is included with the purchase of the vehicle.
