This 1981 Mercedes-Benz 380SL roadster received more than $15,000 in cosmetic updates and new parts, according to the seller. It was repainted and equipped with a new convertible top, seats, carpeting, door panels, Zebrano wood trim, tires, and more. Power comes from a 3.8-liter V8 paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Refinished in silver over a blue leather interior, this R107 380SL is now offered with a removable body-color hardtop, receipts, a Carfax report, and a clear Massachusetts title in the seller’s name.
The seller reports the car has no rust or dents and that it was recently repainted silver and given a new blue fabric convertible top with plastic rear windows. In addition, the weather seals and most of the body trim and chrome was replaced. The exterior features black bumpers with guards and chrome trim, rectangular fog lamps, black side moldings, and chrome-finished side mirror caps.
The factory 14-inch Bundt wheels were refinished and come wrapped in new 205/70-sized General Altimax RT43 tires. According to the seller, the brake pads, rotors, and front calipers were recently replaced.
The interior offers new blue leather seating surfaces, door panels, and carpeting. New Zebrano wood trim is featured on the dash, center stack, and center console. Amenities include air conditioning, power windows, an original Becker Grand Prix radio with an Alpine sound system and Bluetooth, and cruise control. Per the seller, the air conditioning is not currently functional.
Instrumentation consists of an 85-mph speedometer and a 7K-rpm tachometer along with gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and instant fuel economy. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads 127K miles, which is consistent with the mileage shown on the Carfax report.
The 3.8-liter SOHC V8 was factory-rated at 155 horsepower and 196 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission with a console-mounted shift lever.
Additional photos showing the condition of the underside are in the picture gallery.
A removable body-color hardtop and receipts will be included with the purchase of the car.

@TheNov – Has the Engine been updated to the Dual Sproket Timing Chain , as all ' 84 & 85' s S L - 380 s were ? Thanks Mark N ...
as far as i can tell it has not, it is recommended to replace the timing chain every 40000 miles on the original design, which for a occasional driver could last you for as long as you own the vehicle.
