Vehicle Story

This 1951 Ford F1 is a custom-built restomod pickup that has covered approximately 300 miles since undergoing an inside-and-out customization process. Modern upgrades were applied including a newer radio, a Lokar shifter, air conditioning, front disc brakes, and power steering. The rebuilt 239ci flathead V8 has been outfitted with an auxiliary oil filtration system and sends its power to the pavement via a floor-shifted C4 3-speed automatic transmission. Refinished in black over a two-tone red and gray vinyl interior, this customized first-generation F-Series truck is now offered by the selling dealer with restoration documentation, receipts, installation directions for its new parts, and a clear title.

The initial generation of the Ford F-Series pickup launched in 1948 in a number of different chassis designations according to payload and body style. This 1951 F1 has a rust-free body that was repainted in 2010 with accenting red pinstripes, resulting in finishes that are described as show-quality aside from a handful of stone chips around the perimeter. Cosmetic upgrades to the exterior include a Frenched front end with a color-matched bumper and a redesigned rear with quad taillights and bright bezels. The bed planks and hardware were replaced and a custom hard cover was installed for the bed-mounted spare tire that conceals the fuel door for the under-bed fuel tank.

Chrome-finished smooth wheels with Ford-branded center caps are wrapped in wide whitewall tires. The suspension was lowered during restoration and a Toyota power steering box was added. Braking is provided by power-assisted front disc brakes and rear drums.

The interior received a reupholstered two-one red and gray vinyl bench seat with ivory piping. That color scheme is carried through to the door panels and carpeting. Upgrades include air conditioning with custom vents, a tilt-adjustable steering column, a Lokar shift lever, and a retro-look Antique Automobile Radio AM/FM conversion radio. The selling dealer notes that the horn is non-operational.

Instrumentation consists of aftermarket Auto Meter gauges including a 120-mph speedometer along with a combination gauge for the fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. A digital odometer is housed within the gauge set. The selling dealer states the vehicle has accrued 302 miles since being restored, but true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The 239ci flathead V8 was sourced from a 1951 Mercury and comes equipped with aluminum heads and an external oil filtration system. The selling dealer recommends a fluid check and oil change. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted C4 3-speed automatic transmission and a Ford 9-inch rear end.

Additional photos showing the condition of the underside are available in the gallery to the right.

The sale includes restoration documentation, receipts, and installation directions for its new parts. The seller has posted a video of the vehicle below.
