Vehicle Story

This 1972 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray underwent a body-on restoration a few years ago under prior ownership and is powered by the numbers-matching combination of an LS5 454ci big-block V8 and a Muncie 4-speed manual gearbox. Its exterior features pop-up headlights, T-tops, side exhausts, disc brakes, and original Rally wheels with newer BFGoodrich tires. The cabin offers bucket seating for two, power steering, a center console, an AM/FM stereo, woodgrain trim, and lockable rear storage compartments. Finished in special order metallic dark green over a deluxe saddle leather interior, this C3 Corvette coupe is available now and comes with its uninstalled original Delco AM/FM stereo radio, its original spare, an owner's manual, and a clear Florida title in the seller's name.

According to the seller, the fiberglass body is painted in special order metallic dark green. The front end features the final-year chrome bumper, amber turn signals, pop-up headlights, and a hood with a cosmetic scoop and a white accent decal. Body-color T-tops cover the passenger compartment. Side exhausts are located below the doors. At the rear, the car has a removable back window between flying buttresses, an integrated spoiler, quad round taillights, and a two-piece chrome bumper. According to the seller, the chrome, rubber, and weather stripping are like new and the original body panels and birdcage are solid.

The original Rally wheels with derby caps are fitted with newer BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires.

The cabin is furnished with optional deluxe saddle-colored leather and matching carpeting, center console, dashboard, door panels, A-pillar trim, and headliner material. Woodgrain trim accents on the center console and door panels came with the leather option when new. Features include manual crank windows, a tilt and telescope steering column, power steering, bucket seats, a center console, an AM/FM stereo, and lockable rear storage compartments. Per the seller, the original AM/FM stereo radio, which was an option, will come with the vehicle.

The main gauge cluster behind the 3-spoke steering wheel includes a 160-mph speedometer and a 7K-rpm tachometer. The 5-digit odometer shows 78K miles, and while mileage is documented on the previous and current titles, the true total cannot be otherwise confirmed. The center stack contains a non-operational clock and readouts for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage.

Under the hood is an LS5 454ci V8 that is reported to run strong without smoke and sends its power through a Muncie M21 4-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip rear differential. According to the seller, the drivetrain is numbers-matching to the car. They have included supporting photos in the gallery to the right and the following part numbers:

Engine: T0127CSR12S513307
Engine head: 399-9241
Carburetor: 704-2217 (Rochester)
Rear end: AWWO27E2 (Positraction)
Transmission: P2A27A 3513307 (Muncie M21)

Manual disc brakes bring the car to a stop. The seller reports there is some surface rust on the birdcage.

An owner's manual, the original spare, and the uninstalled original Delco AM/FM radio will be included with the sale of the car.
